Pains in my head and on scalp

Nearly three years ago I developed severe shooting, stabbing pains running through and across my head, feeling like an electric shock. The pattern has changed slightly, while I still get these though not so severe, I also get pain on areas of my scalp which is sore to touch in that area for hours afterwards. The pain can be so severe, it can make me jump. One neuroligist said it was 'ice pick headaches' while another thought trageminial neuralgia but I was given no medication. I had a CT scan which was clear and an ESR which showed 10. I am 60, female and previously suffered migraine which disappeared after the menopause. Sometimes the pain which usually lasts seconds to 1-2 minutes can feel like a labour contraction, reaching a climax. I have lots of pain in my upper spince, due to disc fusion, arthritis in my back/spine, osteoporosis, and fibromylgia. I eat sensibly, am not overweight, and walk 1-2miles daily. I tried acpuncture which I think helped, but from time to time it goes away and then returns. I find it frightening. Please help.

hi

good for u for what you do! always keep up the walking !

ofcourse, your body mind is still struggling under a massive load of stress. This stress is not just ongoing new stress, but all the stress that is stored in your hypothallamus from all the years of life and illness. Discharging this stress will lead to the end of your long term issues. What you find frightening is, but it is also a fortunate sign! An indication that you need to do something more.

With your injury and operation, it would be easy to get locked into the view that the techincal aspects of this situation will unavoidably cause problems like some of yours, but DO NOT GET LOCKED INTO THIS VIEW. It is not quite right.

In the meantime, to address the specific issue you present immediately...
are the cranial bones getting stuck together at the fissures ? is your cerebral-spinal fluid flwoing smoothly ?

someone trained in the Dr John Upledger methods could answer these questions and no doubt alleviate the situation, if not help to correct it. They will use methods to manipulate your skull bones and to consider their alignment. they will also trigger your body naturally to re-set its own mechanism for aligning the craial bones.

there are osteopaths, chiropractors, orthopedists, physical therapists, and many disparate others trained in these methods. many are listed throughout the UK.

also, a good cranial osteopath could address these issues, although she or he will not necessarily do it the same way as an Upledger grad.

Even if the root of the problem is NOT in the cerebral spinal fluid or the skull bones, the cranio-Sacral methods of Dr Upledger will help you to get over the pain and heal.

see www.Upledger.com enter the site. click on find a practitioner on the bottom left. that will take you to http://www.iahp.com/pages/search/index.php

and do what you can to empty your hypothallamus-- effective SR, plus the other approaches that that work so well: whole pure foods (which if you have a firbro problem you probably already do-- PURE whole foods) and also aerobic exercise. If you do these things, not only will you be released from the frightening pains, but you will start to get beyond your other problems!

good luck! its actually exciting stuff!

Hi, Greta.

Listen to Leon. This is, without a doubt, a muscular tension kind of headache. Since muscular tension is also the cause of all the other diagnoses you mentioned here.....

If you look at an anatomy atlas for the muscles and nerves of the scalp you will note that the nerves go directly through the muscles and are pinched when the muscles twitch!

All this is called bracing and you would help everything you have by doing the options listed in the bracing archives. Go to the glossary for any unfamniliar terms and let us know what you learn.

Then as you get over all this, please share your experiences with the bulletin board participants to help others avoid what you have gone through.

Walt
