Scoliosis and NCR

Posted by Shelly on February 16, 2003 at 14:16:45:

I had posted to this BB about 10 - 12 weeks ago inquiring about the use of Neurocranial Restructuring for scoliosis in an adolescent. We have started the NCR therapy and are due to have the second series of treatments but my daughter's curve and rib hump appear worse.

I am wondering if anyone on this BB has had experience (positive or negative) with NCR and scoliosis. I originally got some feedback from a couple of adults that use NCR for other ailments but heard nothing of it's use in a case similar to ours.

Thanks

Hi Shelly,

I haven't heard about using NCR with scoliosis (I bet that Helping You can tell you something) but someone posted a message a while back about rolfing being of great help. Also Walt promotes SR as being helpful to the condition.

Best wishes,

NCR CANNOT make scoliosis worse. What may be happening, is that your daughter's spine is shifting into a new balance pattern and needs another series to move out of it. I have never heard of a single case involving somebody being worsened by the treatment. Hundreds of thousands of people have undergone NCR. Believe me, the likelyhood of your daughter being worsened by NCR is slim to none. Who are you seeing?

We are seeing Dr. Charles Musich in Morgan Hill, California. We have done one series with one (with one treatment) followup 3 weeks later. We are going for the second series tomorrow.

I am a 48 yo female and had tons of chiropractic care over 25 years for constant back and neck problems. This is the best I have felt in years since my NCR treatment. So, I know it does something extremely positive. My concern is for my daughter with scoliosis. She is only 13 and growing rather fast. I don't want her growing up with a severe curvature and already it is advancing and she is having back pain daily. I was hoping to find another parent who had used NCR successfully with an adolescent with scoliosis to hear their story.

Thanks for your concern. I did go back into the archives and read your story of how NCR worked for you. Sounds very positive overall. I pray it works for my daughter.

I hope it works for her to. But, at the very least, it will NOT harm her. All she stands to get are no results or positive results. If she can, she should try to get 2 or 3 series done at one time. Doing 2 or 3 series at once can result in a more rapid shift and possibly result in faster improvement. The likelyhood of temporary side-effects (diziness, personality shifts, emotional outbursts, ect.) also increases but these are all temporary and go away without long term effects. Ask the doctor about it and let me know what he says

Hi, Shelly.

In my opinion, anyone who does NCR, Rolfing or Hellerwork, and does not also practice SR and Alexander Technique or Feldenkrais, to prevent recurrance of the scoliosis, is missing the boat.

Walt
