Numbness on outside of left thigh

Posted by Melanie on April 07, 2003 at 15:40:19:

For the last 4 months, a small area on the outside of my left thigh has been completely and continuously numb. I don't know what it could be or even which type of doctor I should see about it. Please help!

Hi, Melanie.

I would have to examine you. However, this sounds like "lateral femoral cutaneous nerve entrapment syndrome".

The only cause of this is bracing.

Let us know what your final diagnosis is.

Thanks, but do I just go to a regular doctor or a specialist? If so, what kind of specialist do I go to?

Hi, Melanie.

You get a deep, total body, therapeutic massage and watch the symptoms improve for a while. You then will be convinced of the cause.

The series of massages suggested in the bracing archives will help longer. The Rolfing suggested will help longer yet. The Alexander Techinque may cure it. SR is the final solution but it takes at least 6-12 months.

Let us know how you do.

Walt
