I had a massage a few days ago - and now have some twitching in my left knee area (interior) where I was manipulated quite hard (It was lymphatic and deep tissue massage)
Can this twitching be from the massage? Anyone ever hear of it?

Hi m,
That is very unusual. I've never had anyone tell me of experiencing that post-massage. It sounds like a nerve ending is continuing to fire. Have you tried massaging it a little more to see if it goes away?
Best wishes,
Happygal (Certified Massage Therapist)

Hi, M.
I have seen this and experienced it myself (back when I was a world class bracer). Happygal's suggestion about more massages is a good one.
This is just an indication how much you really need to get rid of the stored bracing. If you keep it on the run, "This, too, shall pass." See the archives for your other options.
Let us know how you do.

Hi Hap,
I was wondering since I did a full body lymphatic massage and a deep tissue - if it was "overload"? It was 3 days after my massage that this cropped up... it lasted on and off for a few hours...
Walt mentioned bracing....

Hi Michele,
If it only happened for a few hours and then quit, it doesn't sound like much of a problem.
Read the glossary for information about "bracing," and the article, glossary and archives for information about resolving it through "Skilled Relaxation."
Best wishes,

Hi Hap - I've been slowly learning SR, and have a centerpointe system on the way (I know it's pricy, but it did work well for me - and hey, if it works for me, I'll pay - plus, I have clearance from the co. to use it in my studio for private CP sessions that people can do)
In anycase, I think I must be bracing also. I probably was bracing to be honest, during the lymph massage, because it can be a little uncomfortable. Since I know the woman and man personally (he does lymph, deep tissue), she does lymph - they worked a little longer on me - so it was relaxing, but a bit of an overload... I think 2 hours is too long to be "worked on"....and like working out, a few days later the aftereffects really kicked in...
but ohhh my skin is glowing! (remember, I'm the Perioral dermatitis "conquerer"!)

When I 've experienced twitching my Massage therapist has always wanted to work the area right away, saying it was blocked energy. So it sounds good for you to work it out hopefully it is gone by now.

Actually, now that you say it - WHEN she was doing it, she said, "oh, there's some blocked energy here" and it was also on the left side other places... so maybe you are right!
I had it a few hours on the day I posted, and nothing since.
Thank God - it's a weird experience!
