Hi Erika,

Sounds like a vertebrae might be out of alignment, or you might have some tight muscles in your neck, and the nerves leading to those fingers were a little pinched for a while.

If it persists, think about seeing a chiropractor or a massage therapist to adjust or loosen up your neck.

Best wishes,

Both my father and I suffer from this phenomenon. I am convinced it's a pinched nerve in my neck. If I sleep with a cervical pillow or a pillow just rolled up that applies a certain amount of traction (pushing up on the head from the body), I get no tingling or numbness. I also get the numbness if I run more than 3 miles. If I lie down and apply the traction with a pillow it goes away. I suspect you have the same thing.

p.s. i also tried a chiropractor and he made it much worse. It took him 6 months (of free treatments!!!) to get me just back to where I started.

Hi, Steve,

You are right in that the neck is the only place where this could be coming from.

Dealing with bracing (see archives for options) is really your only chance. If I had this I would be seeing a Hellerworker or a Rolfer in consultation. The most you can do for yourself is serious SR.

Use the glossary and the archives to learn what I am talking about. When this runs in families, each generation gets it earlier and is worse.

Let us know what you learn and how you do.

Walt
