I recently came across archives ( in 2001)on your site regarding bracing. Nutmeg had kindly described some exercises which I adapted slightly for my own needs with significant effect. I have been troubled by a twisted pelvis for 3 years now and the exercise has significantly lessened the twist. So, nutmeg, thank you.

Hi Susan,
Wow, that's great to hear! I just happened to be online and saw your post. So glad the exercises are helping you, and that you have made such good progress!!
Here's a book that might be helpful. I heard about it from a friend, and have gotten a lot of relief from doing the exercises, combined with massage and Rolfing. It's out of print, but you should be able to find a used copy from Barnes and Noble, half.com, or one of the other online used booksellers.
Backache: What Exercises Work...Breakthrough Relief for the Rest of Your Life--Even After Everything Else Has Failed by Dava Sobel and Arthur C. Klein, 1994 by St. Martin's Press. I believe there are several editions. They also have a book on exercises for arthritis.
Wishing you the best,
Nutmeg

Susan,
Could you please tell me the link to the specific archive for these exercises? Is it just under bracing?
Thanks,
Erin

Hi,Erin
The link is as follows:askwaltstollmd.com/archives/bracing/79908.html
I have a twist in my pelvis, making my left hip higher and behind my right hip. This makes my left leg appear shorter than the right. The chiropractors eased the situation but the minute I left the consultation room, my left hip would swing up and behind. Needless to say this was very painful.
I do Nutmeg's crossovers, but only on my right side as I believe my problem is caused by muscle imbalance. This has greatly reduced the twist. I have copied Nutmeg's exercise from the previous archive. I hope it helps.
Crossovers: Lay flat on your back on a firm mattress, floor, or massage table. Lift right leg and, bending the knee, cross the leg over the left one, placing the foot on the outside of and parallel to the left leg, near the knee. Reach up with the left hand and gently pull the bent right knee to the left, keeping the foot flat and stretching the muscles of the right hip, rear, and low back. Go slowly and gently and stop if it hurts. When you have stretched as far as you can comfortably go, use your right leg muscles to pull back to the right against your hand. Do this just until the muscles fatigue, then return the right leg to the starting position. Repeat once more with resistance, then once more with just a stretch (no resistance). Repeat the sequence with the left leg. It really helps if you have another person to assist with the stretching and to do the resistance against your knee, but it can be done alone. Do one set with each leg once or twice a day.
All the best.
Susan

Hi Susan,
I have the same situation basically and just spoke with someone regarding Muscular Release Technique and it sounds appealing.
I sincerely appreciate you sharing the exercises with me, thank you so much. I hope this finds you feeling better.
