painful tennis elbow!!!!!!!

Posted by Eleni on October 06, 2003 at 08:50:59:

After one month of being in pain I decided to go to an orthopaedic doctor and have my right arm seen to. Well the result was.....tennis elbow! His suggestion was to have a cortisone injection or take anti-inflammatories. I rejected both and left with a painful elbow. Please does anyone know of a natural way I can go about curing this or relieving the pain? I already take glucosamine for chondromalacia patella. Thank you for any response.

Anything that (gently) increases blood flow should help speed recovery. Icing your elbow will help reduce inflammation.

You could try alternating ice with heat, to increase blood flow with the heat and reduce inflammation with the ice, finishing with ice.

Eleni, there are devices that you can use to help with the pain. When I had tennis elbow, I used one that my doctor gave me, but you can also find them at the pharmacy, I believe. They strap around your arm below the elbow and fasten with velcro. That stabilizes (or squeezes) the muscle there, making it easier to use the arm and giving you more strength in it. I wore one for two years before mine finally healed with supplements and it helped me to still be able to grab the mail out of the mailbox, pick up the toaster, lift children and throw a bowling ball. Every day things that I simply couldn't do without the 'squeezie thing.'

Hi Eleni,

Try some massage and see if loosening up the muscles of the arms relieves the pressure on the joint.

You might also go to your health food store and consult their holistic encyclopedias or other reference books to see if they have recommendations for herbs, etc.

Best wishes,

Hi, Eleni.

Listen to Happygal, Cheezi & Lincoln.

Since bracing is a prominent component of both osteochondrosis patellae (different word, same condition) AND tennis elbow, you also need to learn as much about that (archives) as possible.

Walt
