Hi Dr. Stoll! I am I big fan! I bought your book in 2000 when I had bad reflux. All the suggestions helped. Here I am 3 years later and my problems have gone from "digestive system" in nature to a back/rib/muscle/nerve irritation on the left side of my ribcage. I was thinking costochondritis after reading some of the posts, but the one constant over the past three years has been a rib that moves all over the place. I have had every test run on me to diagnose abdominal pain except an MRI. All check out o.k. My question is can this rib have irritated my nerve going to my digestive organs to the point of no return? I am in so much constant nagging , dull, pain. I almost feel bruised some days in my stomach area on the left side. It sounds so bizarre! Alieve helps, but not for long. I am seeing a Chiropractor and he is helping me, but after two months, nothing too significant.I want to know if there is any way to get a definate diagnosis on costo and can the irritation go into the soft tissue of your belly? My whole foods/ no refined sugar diet has helped with all the digestive problems I was experiencing, but I am terrified that there is no way to fix these irritated nerves if, in fact, that is what it is. I should mention that the skilled relaxation is almost impossible for me to practice effectively ( I try, but I don't really think I'm doing it right)! Please tell me what else I can do. Should I find an ortho doc and try rehab? Thanks, Kristen B.
P.S. Your vinegar cure for nail fungus took two years, but worked like a charm! :)

Nadia, the book was called Saving Yourself From the Disease Care Crisis. I followed the whole foods diet and within six weeks felt much better. I tried the ginger root juice, too. I also drank nothing but water, and lots of it. I COMPLETELY gave up all refined sugar. I followed the vitamin suggestions. It was hard, but it worked. When I felt better, I would treat myself now and then. Everything in moderation. Taking Prevacid also helped, but I haven't had to take it in almost two years! The book was very helpful. I can't remember the last time I had heartburn.

Hi Kristen,
Have you tried several different SR techniques to see if one of them works better for you? Also, don't forget that you can have it checked out by biofeedback, or rent or buy a biofeedback machine to help you learn how to do it. It sounds to me like the SR will be a very important part of your healing this problem.
Best wishes,
Happygal

Trigger points in the abdomin can cause pain. You can deactivate trigger points by kneading with your thumbs any areas which feel tender. Unfortunately trigger points aren't usually diagnosed and yet they account for a lot of the pain people have.
