I see you've had this question before.
Well, my hand specialist 'dismissed' me until we are at the stage of contracture where he can operate! Right now I only have the nodules in my right palm, with ring & pinky fingers mildly tender from time to time....this all began less than three months ago.
Being a late-in-life, newly-successful artist, I cannot accept his opinion. Life is just beginning for me!
Would acupuncture help? Cortisone shots? heat? Ice? Massage?
I anxiously await your advice-
THX!

Hi rtistk,
Are you diabetic? Or pre-diabetic?
There's likely to be an internal organ involved. A good acupuncturist could probably diagnose way ahead of western medicine and avoid any worsening - and possibly help you reverse the condition. Having a 'hand specialist' probably won't help you look at the condition holistically...I'd be very, very wary of being operated on. Look for underlying causes and address those if you can!

Hi, Rtistk.
This is like making the diagnosis of appendicitis and then saying "let's wait for it to rupture before doing surgery"---in my opinion.
This is caused by localized and serious, long term bracing.
Start by absorbing everything in the bracing and the Rolfing/Hellerworking archives.
Hopefully it is not too late to totlly resolve this. There is no doubt that this will help!!!!!!
Let us know what you learn and how you do.

When ligaments shorten due to partial separation from the bone, it becomes painful in a way similar to
the heel of the foot when the Plantar Fasciia detaches
from the heel. Inflammation, scar tissue and fluid builds up in the cavity and when you stand up after being off your feet for a while the tissue is compressed causing great pain.
With the foot, direct pressure on the painful area and careful use of the foot can allow the detached ligament to
heal in time. The main thing to remember is that a weakened bone is the reason for the detachment and that bone strengthening meds like bisphosphonates can be very
helpful.

A Dexa Bone Scan to look for osteoporosis can give you some peace-of-mind. Weakened bone (Osteoporosis) can result
when an Overactive thyroid is not treated, a bone is
subjected to trauma, or as we age. Don't ignore the possibility.
