calcium deposits in breast have been growing. Doctor gives two options: Biopsy today and six month follow up or surgery today to take them all out.
Which option is best? Are there other options?
Thanks

Other possible options: I recall something about microcurrent therapy and ultrasonique technique. Definitely sound better than "surgery today". Perhaps someone will know more - or search archives and see if it is mentioned.

with a girlfriend who had calcium deposits, she went in for a needle and tissue biopsy a week after the deposits were seen on the ultra sound and it turns out the deposits were cancerous. She will be having lumpectomy surgery on Nov 5th. Some calcium deposits are nothing to be afraid of as they don't all turn out to be cancerous but if they are located all in one place versus being spread throughout the breast as they should be, this could mean there is more to it. I would not wait, I would get in and have the biopsy done asap - better to be proactive which will help with early diagnosis and quick intervention.

Marty,
Your surgeon must explain the advantages, disadvantages and reasons for each option, to you to YOUR satisfaction and not just to HER'S.
This is one reason surgeons make so much money: The fee includes this service!
Let us know what you learn.

Marty:
There are other options in life besides surgery and drugs. I had a biopsy and the surgeon cut half my breast off.
Have you considered making an appointment with a Naturopath or CAM doctor and asking what the Alternatives may be?
Thanks,
Pam
