Hi, Is there anything besides plastic surgery that can be done for sagging breasts? Mine have always been ample, and because my mother died of breast cancer I don't sleep in a bra... Have never been pregnant. Now that I'm 40 they're sagging. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Since when has sleeping in a bra contributed to breast cancer?

Look on the net, bras linked to breast cancer all over the place.

Yes, true but wouldn't that make all women prone to breast cancer? I know all of us are but. . .we have a huge history of it on both sides of my family and I can assure you, it had nothing to do with wearing a bra!

I am curious as to why your family has such a history of it. What do you think contributed to it?

Are you saying that you assume all women wear bras?
I understand there is very little BC in places like Africa where they don't wear bras.
I don't wear one unless I'm at work in my office during regular hours...which is to say I wouldn't wear one on weekends.
How can you be assured that your family's BC history has nothing to do with bras? Do none of them wear bras?

You can do exercises that build your pectoral (chest)muscles...they are the muscles that are underneath your breasts.

My understanding is that the bra confines the lymph nodes which make it harder to filter toxins. That is why "bra's" (aka, too tight bras) can seem to cause BC.
The tribal people spoken of have a life expectancy of 35, so I'd doubt that many of them even get to "get" BC, plus a lot of the tribal people don't have the pollution and cigarette habits that we have!
Oh - I think if you look at studies, men, who often do not wear bra's - can get breast cancer also - as well as flatter chested women who wear tanks instead of bras.
The research should go deeper - again, it's by a lot of MDs - and "md's" I don't even want to GO there!

Hi, ????. Please take some time and learn how statistics of causation work. Out of many thousands of women, half of which wear bras and half who do not, (all of which are evenly matched with known breast cancer susceptibility factors). They then see how much cancer there was in each group. Lo and behold there is consistantly a positive correlation with wearing synthetic fabric bras and the incidence of cancer.
Much as you may not like to hear that, it has been known for at least 30 years. There is no correlation with cotton bras.

I too only wear bras to the office as sometimes my nipples tend to protrude and become quite visible through the sheer uniform material, otherwise I go without it. Its much more comfortable without a bra, and definitely less restricting.

Most of my bras are synthetic and not cotton. Should I Only wear cotton bras then?

It is the material it is made of not the style.

'It is the material it is made of not the style.'
What do you mean, Walt?
Lace IS the material, not the style.

Hi! You said, "Lace IS the material, not the style."
Lace on bras is made from a type of material and it is NOT cotton. So, in this case, lace would be a no-no, if you want to go with cotton.
And to further confuse the issue, most "all cotton" is not really totally 100 percent cotton (which is not available at all, anywhere as far as I have been able to find, the "all cotton" label allows for minute amounts of other materials).
However, you can only do the best you can. If you look for the "all-cotton" label when shopping for bras and are in the US, Jockey makes some. All cotton is very hard to find. However, and strangely, I have had better luck finding "all cotton" bras in non-department stores, such as Mervyns, WalMart--the lower-end types of stores.

I dont find cotton bras that comfortable, and my nipples still protrude right through, especially when it gets cold. I even have a bra that is not cotton, but synthetic, and when I wore it to work a few days ago, my nipples were still quite obvious even through that. (embarrasssing)
I find the cotton bras too flimsy to be of any good. Thats why I like synthetic, I get better comfort, form and fit. But if it contributes towards BC, then I will have to rethink and go on a serious bra shopping expedition. :)

Yeah, that'll happen! lol

Exactly, the usual lace is made from synthetic fibres..personally I have always preferred cotton bras. And definately NOT wired!!
