I bought some new bras a couple of months ago. They fit perfectly, and are adjustable. they have been fine, up until now.
I am finding, just in the last few days, when I get home from work and take my bra off, my breasts are really tender and feel bruised. Not on the nipples, but the underside of my breasts feel bruised and hurt. I end up having to massage them to relieve the tender, bruised feeling. this seems to alleviate the pain quickly.
I can't figure it out. My bra does not feel too tight.
Could it be from wearing a bra all day causing this or somthing else?

It could be the detergent your washing them causing a reaction to your skin or maybe they are not tight enough and your breast are chaffing in them from friction against the bra.

Wearing a bra will cut-off the blood flow to your Lymph's so burn the darn thing!!!! Taking to much estrogen will also cause your breast to become tender and sore. Without realizing it, we are consuming certain processed foods, which once they are digested, mimics estrogen in our body. This health hazard has caused and "Estrogen Dominance" problem. * S.H.A.P.E. *

The pain/bruised feeling feels deep, not surface skin pain.

burn the thing??? and then end up with saggy breasts. nuh-uh. there has got to be a better way, i hope.
maybe using my rebounder regularly will help with the lymphatic system if that's what's causing this prob.
and how come it's just a recent thing?

Hi - Wearing the new bra too much! I bet your older bra's were much more pliable and "breathed more" but you should get used to having them off or at least being able to loosen them up periodically.
I have this one victoria's secret cotton bra that is my "don't feel like wearing one but have to" bra...also, Bali makes a "yoga bra" which is non constricting.
You have to also make sure you at night and in the AM do "arm circles" like in PE class when you were a kid - to stimulate lymph nodes under your arms...
ALso, drink lot's of water....exercise too!
I swear most breast cancer is due to the bra issue!
Your breasts can be sore too, from too much caffeine, not enough Vit. E, Mag or, peri or the change itself...

Are your new bras underwires? Underwires are notorious for causing the breasts to hurt as you describe. I can only wear them for special ocassions.

Gigi - It's not just a "Recent Thing" there's an epidemic of breast cancer - haven't you noticed?! Burn the darn thing. Saggy breast are better than no breast at all, after doctors end up removing them ~sigh~. The rebounder will help, as will massaging your Lymph's in the area under your arms.

I mean, this pain/bruised feeling in my breasts is a recent thing.

I am on the whole foods diet, so NO sugar for this gal!
The bra thing. I don't wear it from sunup to sundown. I normally wear it for maybe 6-7 hours out of the day, unless I am out for the whole day.I guess my older bras did breathe better.
Most of the new ones I bought have that bone underneath for support. But even the ones that don't,which I wore today and yesterday, still gave that bruised/swollen feeling.I know that just recently, I have put on weight all over my body, and my breasts also got slightly bigger, even my husband noticed it. It was when I went back to eating carbs that the distribution of weight on my body started to increase noticeably.
I also remembred that it's getting close to my period, but normally, I get sensitive nipples, but not this bruised/swollen feeling on the underside of my breasts.

Today and yesterday, I wore the ones without the wire for that exact reason, and experienced the same prob.

If this were the case she would be sore everywhere the bra comes into contact with her skin, not just under the breasts.

Gigi - Be sure to take Vitamin-E 400 to 800 units everyday - skip Sat & Sun on all of your supplements. The only vitamin-e supplement that produces results is, Carlson's brand call "E-Gems Elite". You are simply wasting your money on other brands! * S.H.A.P.E. *

There are other good brands of vitamin E out there :)
One is by Douglas Labs called nutri E. It comes in several different "strengths". There is also one manufactured by A.C. Grace Co. It is available only by prescription from your doctor. The story about this particular brand is interesting.
The brand you recommend is derived from soybeans and rice. Nutri E is from soybean oil. Not sure if this will make a difference to some.
I hope others will toss this information around a bit and add their 2 cents worth. There are SO many companies and brands out there.
(thanks, SHAPE, for all you contribute!)

I'm not sure, but I am almost certain there is no character or symbol for "carrot" in Eng.
Oh please don't be mad. There is also no symbol for gentle tweaking of noses!

Thank you so much for this information. Very interesting! I've bookmarked it for future reference. I may call tomorrow and see where it can be purchased.
Glad you didn't have to cook dinner tonight. My dinner turned out to be entirely yellow! This has happened to me several times lately, the dinner is all the same color. I think I'm losing interest in meal preparation. Tonight I threw a few olives on hubby's plate to break the color scheme. He says he doesn't care what color dinner is but it shocks me sometimes when I look at the plates and realize what I've done.

it happened again to me today. I wore my bra for about 4 hours, and when i got home, whilst I had my bra on, i felt the underside of my breasts and sure enough, it felt bruised/swollen, although nothing as bad as when I have worn it for more time than that.

Hi, Gigi.
Find a totally natural fiber bra and only wear that one for a week.
Let us know what you learn.
Are you aware that the incidence of breast disease is higher in people who wear synthetic fiber bras than those who either wear no bra or a natural fiber bra?

Gigi, I had the same problem with the soreness- well, I mean I had soreness under my breasts when I wore the bras with wires. I had tried wearing a larger size, which helped the soreness but didn't make it go away.

Have you tried going without a bra for a day (maybe on a day you don't have to go out) just to see if your breasts get sore toward the end of the day?
I'm all for burning my dang bras! I wore a nursing bra for six and half years straight. Thankfully, those didn't have underwire. I was, however, excited to get back to a "normal" bra. But now I think I'd much rather do without.

walt,
if i wear no bra, then later in life, i am end up with breasts down to my knees, so that is not an option.
1. why would i now be experiencing this problem after wearing these new bras after about 2 months withought a problem?
2. where do i get a ttotally natural fiber bra
3. if i use my rebounder, will this help prevent me getting breast cancer in the future?
4. besides restricting of a bra the lymph system, if a bra fits perfectly (as mine seem to) how can the synthetic fabric increase incidence of breast cancer?
thanks.

In order:
First of all did I suggest you wear no bra???
1. That is the way ALL hypersensitivities begin. The only way you will know is to try it. It may not be YOUR cause.

Hi, Gigi. You mentioned a concern somewhere along this thread with not wearing a bra and eventually having your breasts sag.
I rarely wear a bra and when I do, my preference is cotton. I’ll be 50 years old in a few years, and my breasts are still quite firm. My husband refers to them as “perky.” I don’t know if this is due to my having good posture, or if it is genetic. My mother is 80 years old, and her breasts are still fairly firm. She doesn’t wear a bra very often either and she too has good posture. We've both exercised all of our adult life as well.

Gigi,
I had some trouble with hypersensitivity to bra fabric too, and had to switch to 100% cotton. Even a few % of lycra/spandex in the fabric content of the cups was enough to cause me problems. I checked the local department and discount stores and the only place I could find bras with 100% cotton cups was WalMart. The good news was they only cast $6 each. The bad news was that the fit is worth about $6 :) At least it is an inexpensive experiment. I think they have 2 or 3 styles.
I've been wearing these 100% cotton knit bras exclusively since this summer, but now I have developed a rash where the elastic touches my skin, and I'm suspecting a problem might be developing where the seam touches me--synthetic thread? I suspect it is a synthethic elastic. Now considering whether to try covering the elastic areas with bias tape from the fabric store, or to spring for some new natural fiber bras. I found this link, which I have seen advertised in natural health magazines. Great photos--real women as models!

On the flip side, I am "only" 34 years old and have been a bra-wearer for 23 years. After two pregnancies, I feel like my breasts are nearly to my waist or will be soon. *Sigh*

Hmm, interesting. I will tell you this, when I got my new bras a few months ago, and to now, my breasts are definitely firmer and "perky". :)
BUT, i think a change in my diet did this too. Not only have I gained some weight all over my body, but maybe the new, better fitting bras led to my breasts being in better shape and tone. I am in my early 30s.

***First of all did I suggest you wear no bra???***
Sorry, Walt, for second guessing you. I thought you were implying that I should go without one. I can't go without a bra even if i wanted to, as my breasts are large.
I have noticed that now that my period is almost finished, I am not noticing that swollen/bruised/tender feeling on the underside, and I am wearing the same bras.
Maybe my breasts enlarged a bit just before my period, which created that pain from my bras (probably felt extra tight in my bra), I am not sure. Maybe it was my hormones. Just looking for answers here right now.
Thanks for your time and advice.

Hi, BFS.
Why do you not just get rid of the fibrocystic disease?
This condition is commonly associated with costochondritis as well. That is the part that hurts when you lift.

To take my bra off is extremly painful. I need help.....Can I change my diet to fix this? The only time they don't hurt is when I am on my period. If anyone has any answers please email me. What solved the mystery for me was when I was stopped at the airport because of the metal in the bras! I decided to get all new bras and get re-measured. The soreness disappeared within a week! Perhaps you aren't wearing the wired ones anymore, but if you still are, try not wearing them for at least 2 weeks and see if it helps. Sorry I took so long to explain this!

2. That is up to you. My patients never seemed to have big trouble finding one once they determined to do it.
3. Probably but you can do it in your natural fiber bra.
4. No one yet knows how this works but the atatistics, first published from India, plainly prove that ALL forms of breast disease are increased in those who wore synthetic bras. Even in men that wore synthetic shirts. Look it up.
