I have been ill and going through hell for the past 5 months. I can't bear to go on like this anymore. I have seen cardiologist, pulminologist, ear nose & throat Dr., allergist, and the latest one a psychologist. I recently spent a week in a mental ward for depression/; anxiety and also recieved ECT treatments!. I do not feel depressed or anxious that's why I don't believe that diagnosis. Every Dr.I have seen has diagnosed something but nothing helps. 24 hours 6 days a week I can't breath. I have unbearable breathing problems. My shrink thinks it;s from my anxiety. I am on remeron, cyprxa, and ativan and nothing helps. If I wasn't mental before I sure am going to be. This is no way to live. Please help me, where do I go from here????? I do have a mitral valve prolapse but my cardiologist says this should not be causing my breathing problems.HELP!!!

hi
not mental
there is no such thing as a hypochondriac, but there are the people who do not know what to look for in sick people who will label them as such out of their ignorance in what to look at.
cut some "stress" out of your life and watch your body and mind improve and heal. your problems indicate that your body is kind of wiped out by stress-- stress meaning not just the psychological unpleasantries most people call stress, but a lot more than that. see the glossary and begin to learn to help yourself. your message indicates you are bracing your muscles. another big aspect of the root of your disorders.
those drugs wont help.
what area are you in ? find a clinical ecologist , who will hold the above point of view. they are well experienced with people who have gone through so much and are simply tracked into a path that labels them depressed when this really is not the problem. a good clinical ecologist will give you relief just by assuring you that this is somthing they have seen before. its sad and painful and hell but it is not so rare ! feel better knowing this. until now, you have just unfortunately been looking for help to people who dont know enough or who dont know the salient variables in your equation.
cant breathe >? as in cant seem to get air in ? or air ocming in doesnt help ?
way back when, i had that too... it was kind of the additional symptom that pushed me over the edge. simply eating no more dairy stopped that for me. not universal, but was i thrilled to find that !
when you cant breathe, wet your finger and massage firmly all over your ear, inside and out, all around, but particularly the lobe. one ear after the other. feel the relief this brings.

Hi, Tina.
Listen to Leon.
Isn't it interesting that when the docs do not know what is going on they blame it on the patient!?
Start by going to the library and asking the librarian for booka that teach breathing techniques for SR. Try different ones until you find one that works for you and then do it for 20 minutes at least 3 times a day.
THEN, go back and ask for a simple book about Alexander Technique.
Then let us know how you are doing. You are going to have to climb out of this hole step by step.

I do sympathise - my breathing can get difficult when I am stressed, and it is such a horrible feeling. You might find this helpful:
