Hi Sue - Calcium supplements cause "Constriction" which could be effecting his emotions. Therefore, I'd suggest that you stop giving him that supplement and instead purchase just a "Magnesium" supplement, which will relax his muscles. Be sure that he eats one cup of a dark green veggie, like spinach, at least every other day (popeye was right you know) which will supply all the calcium that he needs!!!!! * S.H.A.P.E. * PS - Also give him one teaspoon of honey (harvested in your area) everyday for one week to help calm him down. If the honey makes a big positive difference in his personality, continue to give him the honey every other day!

Can you explain what constriction would mean to somebody, & also is it true that spinach can affect thyroid function?
Thankyou.

Will Broccoli be ok instead of spinach? & also does mineral water have good levels of calc & mag in for a 5 year old.

Calcium causes muscles to become tense (stress/bracing), which you do not want. Whereas, magnesium will relax your muscles. If a person is going to take a calciun/magnesium supplement, they need to take "EQUAL" amounts of both of them or all this extra calcium will simply end-up blocking your arteries because it's the magnesium that makes the calcium "Absorb" into your bones. I've eat spinach all of my life and I now have a spinach salad 4 to 6 times a week without experiencing any Thyroid symptoms. God would not have provided it for us if it was bad for our health!

Broccoli is excellent, as is any dark green veggie and mineral water is the best water to drink, however, he still needs the dark green veggies at least every other day!

One cup of green leafy vegetables every other day would not provide sufficient calcium(1000 mg)for a growing child. One cup of raw spinach contains only 30 mg of calcium. Clean, raw milk and chesses from either cows or goats would be your best source of this essential nutrient.

Thankyou, but what do you feel about what GG posted?

I disagree with their remark about the green veggies but I do agree that either organic cows milk or goats milk would be excellent for your son. Adults do not need milk products, which only serve to put mucus in their intestinal tract.

The whole theory that milk creates mucus in the intestines is completely unvalidated. Almost all of the extremely healthy indigineous people (booth adults and children) studied by Weston A Price consumed dairy, some of them relied upon it as their principle source of nutrition.
Children and as well as adults need to be consuming enough calcium in their diet to meet the RDA. This is a simple necessity if optimum health is to be achieved. Eating milk products is the easiest way to insure adequate calcium in the diet. Contrary to poplular belief, dark green vegetables except for collard greens are not a good source of calcium. If you do not belive me go look it up on the USDA nutrient database.
It should also be noted that in order for calcium to be properly absorbed adequate fat (including saturated), fat soluble vitamins, and fat soluble activators must be present in the diet. By consuming whole unpasturized milk one is getting all the necessary nutrients to properly deposit calcium in the skeletal structure. Fermented milk is even better than regular milk as it contains very easy to digest protein and a variety of beneficial bacteria.

Thanks, GG.
Remember that the available calcium in any food is related to the ratio of calcium to phosphorus. If the phosphorus is high it will inhibit the utilization of the calcium via the parathyroids. Any effective calcium source must be high in calcium and LOW in phosphorus. In dairy the ratio is directly the opposite in cow's milk but is correct in human milk.
Hope this helps.

Raw milk is generally tolerated much better by those that can't handle regular milk from the grocery store. The trick is finding a good source. www.realmilk.com is a good website place to start if your gonna try and obtain raw milk.
Cheese and yogurt are often tolerated well by those who can't drink plain milk.
