Dear Dr. Stoll,
I just had x-ray's of my shoulders to determine the cause of my recurring pain in them. The x-rays showed "tons of calcium deposits" according to my doctor. What causes these and what can be done for them without resorting to cortisone shots? Is there any nutritional cause or cure for this?
Thank You,
Debby

Dear Debbie,
The most common cause is severe chronic "bracing" which can only be permanently resolved by the regular practice of skilled relaxation.
Since one of the aggravating causes of "bracing" is low intracellular magnesium----and low intracellular trace minerals is one of the independent causes of "calcium deposits"--I would certainly be checking THAT out.
Finally nearly every month now another trace mineral, that is essential for the proper management of calcium in the body, is being discovered. SO, I would also become a student of trace mineral supplementation. Until we learn to be as smart as God, a whole foods diet would be a worthwhile adjunct.
For temporary relief, I would also consider Rolfing.
Walt

Debbie
I had that, too, along with fibromyalgia and chronic myofacial pain syndrome, leading to a frozen shoulder. That was before I found this BB. I had to get rid of the frozen shoulder the hard way (monthsss of PT and a surgical manipulation). I got rid of the fibromyalgia, tennis elbows, carpal tunnel, IT Band pain, etc by the following:
getting 2 massages a week for 3 weeks to start out
doing skilled relaxation using BrainSync tapes
eliminating night shade vegetables
eating a high protein, low carb diet, emphasizing whole foods
taking Cal Apatite instead of other calciums I had been on
supplementing with vitamins and herbs under the guidance of an iridologist
doing Yoga twice a week
a good chiropractor recommended to me by Dr. Ferguson on the BB
Now, I'm no perfect example, but the difference is night and day from a year ago when I discovered this BB. It takes alot of reading, reading, reading, and doing, doing, doing. Even my orthopedic MD wouldn't give me cortisone because he said it would interfere with my body's ability to heal itself.
I certainly hope you'll take the time to study this board and listen to your body as it heals!
