Calcium Deposit

Posted by Gina on January 31, 2001 at 18:19:07:

Dear Dr. Stoll,

About a year and a half ago I was getting rolfed. The rolfer noticed a calcium deposit on the top side of my second left toe. What can I do about this and how can I prevent this?

Thank you for helping to educate the public as you do.

Gina

There is nothing you can do to prevent it. It is already there. In order to prevent NEW calcium deposits from forming, it is important to realize why calcium deposits form in the first place.

Calcium deposits usually form in places where there is constant inflammation, weakness, or stress. The rolfing was a great idea. You should look at biomechanics as one possible cause for calcium depositis. The fact that it is on your big toe leads me to believe that it is probably a biomechanic problem. Also, weather it be tendonitis, arthritis, calcium depositis, or bursitis, they are all forms of the same disease process. Look in the archives under arthritis and calcium depositis to learn more.

I have read that ionic calcium (the kind found in calcium deposits, can be removed by undergoing chelation. Chelation therapy will remove ionic calcium only and put it back into circulation, excrete it, or put it back in the bones. lots of people with arthritis report that they feel looser after receiving chelation even though that is not the reason they went for it. This may give you some hope about the calcium deposits you already have. Preventing threm from re-occuring comes from understand the arthritis process and how it develops. If you still have any questions after reading the archives, I will be happy to help you. take care. :)
