Two Question I Can't Find Answers For >>

1. I read about a study that says the Chinese almost never experience osteoporosis, yet their calcium intake is only about 100MG a day! Other sources are now saying that too MUCH calcium can actually be the cause of degenerative diseases, including heart disease. Any thoughts on this?
-AND-
2. One fish oil supplement maker says the ALA in flax seed oil does not elevate levels of DHA in the bloodstream of test subjects, making it inferior to fish oil. Is this a concern?

Thanks everyone!

Hi, Peter
Osteoporosis is relatively rare in a lot of countries where folks consume a LOT less calcium than we are recommended to take in the US. This has led me to believe that low calcium intake is not the reason we Americans get osteoporosis. The real reason is probably more subtle and complex. Perhaps it is related to impaired ability to absorb and efficiently utilize dietary calcium, or maybe it's someting altogether different that no one has even considered yet. I wish I were smart enough to be able to figure it out...alas!
But it's a good question.

Thanks, vickir.

I think it is interesting that you can see this so clearly and the profession that is supposed to know the most about health still has not a clue.

calcium is said to move around normally with acid like
when we exercise and stress the body and too much acid
keeps it moving on out of the body so even if we consumed
a lot and absorbed it it could be passing right out if we
went acidic.
