32 year old female diagnosed with breast cancer about a month ago. Went in for a lumpectomy on Tuesday. They did a node test and results came back positive. She's going back for another surgery in a week to remove some of the nodes. Has anyone been through this - does this necessarily mean that the cancer is in more places than the nodes or could it be that that's where it ends? Trying to be a supportive friend and knowing as much as I can will help me to communicate best with her.
Thank you!

Rachel:
When lymph nodes are removed, nerves end up being cut under the arm. This can lead to lymphedema and disability. Also, the lymph system is very important for the body defenses and to get rid of toxins.
Your friend must be going to an Allopathic doctor, because they see the body not as a whole, but as unrelated parts. They use knives and drugs to attack symptoms in the body.
Generally, surgery and drugs should be the last resort, not the first. Your friend should seek wellness and natural healing, first.
The medical establishment has no cure for cancer. They have invasive surgery and toxic drugs that harm the body.

Bonnie's Breast Cancer Story
http://www.bcforum.org/amazon/cure-my.html
I was diagnosed with breast cancer in November 1995.
I feel like I was bulldozed into a mastectomy.
I was given several HOURS to decide about the mastectomy.
My doctor told me it was an emergency and needed to be done RIGHT NOW!
I asked for a couple of months to make that decision, but a week later the breast was off.
It is the biggest mistake I've ever made in my life.
I've since learned that a cancer diagnosis is not an emergency. Cancer grows slowly - it takes years to reach the size where a lump is felt.
They could have given me a while to think about it and get a second opinion. But I was told "do it now or die."
Chemotherapy was recommended, but I don't want to destroy my immune system.
So I started reading and learning about alternative therapies to ensure that the cancer doesn't come back.
Six months later I found another lump under my arm, which was biopsied and found cancerous.
My doctor now recommends chemotherapy and radiation, neither of which are acceptable to me.
I talked to the radiologist and his plan was to radiate my chest wall (the tumour in my breast was contained; no cancer was found in the rest
of the breast after the mastectomy - what a waste of a perfectly nice breast) and my lymph nodes under my arm and around my collar bone.
Don't ask me why, since there was no sign that it had spread up to my collar bone.
But then I started reading about the lymph system.
My doctor called and asked if I was going to get the radiation since cancer "had attacked your lymph system."
I said, "but I've read that cancer doesn't attack the lymph system, the lymph system is doing it's job in actually collecting the cancer cells."
Pause..."Well, yes."
"So tell me why I should destroy my lymph system with radiation?"
I'm still waiting for the answer.
I've really changed my life and I keep changing it to be fun every day.
I went back to painting and crafts - dragons keep coming out of me. I write my feelings in a journal.
I go to the beach and listen to the waves. I play with my kids. I have four kittens which give me joy. I just planted many spring bulbs. Stuff like that.
I get physiotherapy for back ache (tension) and I'm starting acupuncture.
Getting myself off the waiting list for radiation was like a weight being l=
ifted. And I switched primary doctors.
I went to a doctor who now specializes in complimentary medicine and this i=
s what he recommends:
Diet should be:
Sugar free (refined sugars) and dairy free (low fat)
Low fat (10- 15%) best obtained by eliminating dairy
Decrease meat - especially no red meat
Increase all vegetables, especially the cabbage family and leafy greens,
eaten raw (well washed) or lightly cooked
Soy bean products good
Whole grains, vegetables, fruits, nuts and seeds may be consumed
freely
Fish is alright
Teas - Green Tea, Pau d'arco
Reduce or eliminate coffee, alcohol and carbonated beverages
Supplements:
Vitamin C - 4 grams/3 times a day
Niacinamide (B3) - 500 mgs/3 times a day
B-Complex - 50 mgs daily
B-Carotene - 25,000 IUs daily
Zinc Citrite - 50 mgs daily
Selenium - 200 mc grams/twice daily
Folic Acid - 5 mgs/three times daily
Vitamin E - 400 IUs/three times daily
CoQ10 - 300 mgs daily (good reports out of Japan)
Colloidal Trace Minerals
Alkomer (Ecomer/Alykrol) 500 mg. caps - theraputic 20 grams/day X 2
months; maintenance 1-2 grams/day
Dandelion and Milk Thistle (liver)
Bovine cartilage 3 grams 3Xdaily
January 1997
That doctor referred me to Dr. Abram Hoffer, who has done research since
the 1950's in curing disease with nutrients.
He wrote a chapter in Linus Pauling's Vitamin C and Cancer and has a new
book on cancer coming out soon.
You will often see Dr. Hoffer's name mentioned in relation to Vitamin C
and Niacinamide.
He recommended:
Vitamin C to bowel tolerance
Niacinamide 500 mg. X3
B Complex 50s X3
Selenium 250 mg. X5
Vitamin E Succinate 400 iu X2
Folic Acid 5 mg. X3
Zinc Citrate 50 mg. X1
Copper 3 mg. X1
CalMag 1 tab X3
CoQ10 420 mg.X1
I.V. Vitamin C
Cartilage (Cell-FX)
Vaccine
Thyroid
My cancer markers blood tests came back within the normal range.

of dealing with breast cancer based on following a wellness strategy. This said, although much of what you have shared makes alot of sense to many, unfortunately the norm is still that of what the "normal" medical doctors recommend as treatment - ie. chemo, radiation, surgery. Especially for those who are young who find out they have cancer - with age comes wisdom and with age comes patience. As a young woman, who is fighting for her life, my girlfriend is not looking at alternatives but putting her faith in her general oncology Dr. to help her make the right decisions based on his knowledge of treatment options.
I agree that there are other paths someone with cancer can take but with this situation in particular, the path chosen is not one of wellness as prescribed on this board but one of the former. What I am looking for are those who have been through the fight with breast cancer using current technologies ie. chemo, radiation, surgery, and who have had success. As I mentioned in my first post, I am not looking to cure this disease, only to understand from a "non-wellness" standpoint how I can better support my friend in her struggle with breast cancer and now lymph node cancer based on current technology.
Thank you for your insight.

Bonnie....ever heard of Juice Plus? It is in pill form and is very good for you.. It fights most diseases and best of all it has been proven to break down in your system and get to the organs necessary for a healthy life. You don't have to worry about getting the necessary vegetables in your body, besides the expense. You know you have to have a lot of vegetables and fruits to have enough to do any good, like 5 servings a day. If you want info on this, just e-mail me and good luck. Nita

in the story Pam shared - she's not part of this post. Anyhow, I would love to get the website that this juice pill is on to learn more about it. Is there a website?
Thanks.

Rachel:
Allopathic doctors only have the standard cut, burn and poison. That is all your friend will get. The cutting leads to disability, scar tissue, fat necrosis, damge to the lymph system, more surgeries, etc.
Chemo is a carcinogen and will poison the body. Radiation can mutate DNA and cause more cancer, it also causes scar tissue.
All this information is available at the site I mentioned. Why would you help your friend to damage her body?
The medical establishment admits that it has NO cure for cancer. So what is that oncologist going to do?
It's your friend's choice to go to someone who is going to cut, burn and poison her, but at least she should look at the alternatives.
If it was my friend, I would NOT help her to destroy her body...
Thanks,
Pam

Rachel:
In answer to your question: the doctors don't know where those cancer cells are in the body. Cancer cells are so microscopic that they can't be found until they begin to grow into a tumor.
Some women undergo various scans. I have been through most every scan. There are CAT scans, bone scans, etc.
So, to answer your question: the doctors don't know where those cancer cells have gone...
If it makes you feel any better, anyone can have cancer cells lurking in their body. But, it's the job of the immune system to fight off these invaders.
Conventional treatments for cancer damage the immune and lymph systems. These systems cannot then work to destroy cancer and rid the toxins.
I hopes this helps!

I take offense to your remark of my "helping my friend destroy her body" - you mention "It's your friend's choice to go to someone who is going to cut, burn and poison her, but at least she should look at the alternatives." Exactly. I as her friend can provide her with the places to go in order to understand her alternatives but cannot "make" her do anything. You should know better than to make an awful assumption that just because someone is not following someone else's lead, that person is uncaring or trying to help them destroy their bodies.
I was a supporter of your ideas - based on your shallow, condescening, remark (did I add clueless?) I will go look to others who have a sense of humane -ness; you obviously do not and I feel sorry for you.

Hi, Rachel.
In MY opinion, further surgery on the lymph nodes is useless and probably, in the balance, harmful. I certainly would not have it done to me.
Not only would I opt for something like Macrobiotics and wellness but I might consider radiation to the nodes.
I would challenge the docs to produce one shred of published data showing that in her case further node dissection would be helpful.

Dr. Stoll:
Thank You for identifying the harm of more lymph node dissection. If Rachel could see me and how I disabled my arm is because of lymph node dissection, she would understand. The pain is ongoing...
It was for nothing. There was no purpose in cutting into my lymph nodes. So, now my arm is disabled for life.
But, be careful of radiation. I had the radiation, too. It caused scar tissue to form, and the skin seemed to shink and the muscles contracted.
I have to walk with my shoulder bent over and my arm curled up. I only had radiation because the surgeons had spread my cancer, and a tumor grew in my axillary area that was very painful.
That's when I had radiation from a naturopathic-oncologist. But, I am suffering from the effects of that radiation.
It seems that the best thing to do is keep the lymph fluid moving and detox the body. Lymphatic massage will help. Also, jumping daily on a mini trampoline.
There is hydrotherapy, where alternating warm and cool water can be used in the shower to stimulate the flow of lymph fluids.
This information is located in your archives.
Toxins must move out of the lymph nodes under the arm. The body will do its job of killing and cleaning out cancer cells, if only we will give it a chance.!
Thanks,
Pam

Radiating lymph nodes can lead to lymphedema.

Yes, Pam.
However, in MY experience only an overdose will do this in most people.
