I have a friend (male) 40 yrs old who for the past couple days has gad leg swelling. His entire leg right to his foot. The leg is very warm to the touch. In between the crease of his leg and groin, he has a lump the size of a hot sausage. Approx 3-4" long. It hurts there and in his leg. I think he may have a hernia that had become strangulated. Would this cause swelling in the leg? The entire leg? He refuses to go to the hospital, I really feel this is an emergency situation, what do you think Dr. Stoll, maybe he'll listen to you. Loved the book!

Thanks, angela.
It IS an emergency situation. He could lose his leg and even his life. He MUST be examined ASAP!
Let us know how he does.

Thank you Dr. Stoll for answering so quick. He did go to the emergency room this morning and was diagnosed with the blood clots. One near his groin and the other in his ankle. And possibly a third one. He does have a heart condition and as of now they are awaiting a heart specialist. Would this require surgery, or can they be disolved? That lump in his groin was quite large. Thank you again

More tests were done and he has 6 small masses/tumor. They are sending him to a specialist on Tues.. This mass is located in the groin, can cancer start there?

Sorry, angela.
A cancerous tumor is probably the most common cause of what you are describing. He is doing exactly what he needs to do right now.
Let us know the final diagnosis.

He goes in Thurs. to have the tumor remioved. I didnt know this but hes been experiencing terrible night sweats, the surgeon said possibly lymphoma. They are removing the tumor on Thurs. and will biopsy it. Isnt it dangerous to open him up,m couldnt doing this cause it to spread? He just noticed the tumor a few days ago, is it possible it could have started to spread?
