Prostate

Dear Doctor,

My symptoms are excessive urination.

My Doctor recently diagnosed me as having a bacteria (sorry, I don’t know the name) in my prostate and has prescribed the antibiotic CIPROXIN with a dosage of 2 x 500 mg per day for 6 weeks. This bacteria was found in a semen test I gave.
This seems very heavy for treating a bacteria described as “not serious”. Is this really necessary and can’t this bacteria be cured without antibiotics.

When I asked the doctor if this treatment of antibiotics would cure the excessive urination, he said he wasn’t sure.

Can you tell me if this treatment help my excessive urination?

What will happen if I decide not to treat this bacteria with antibiotics?
Can this be treated with alternative medicine?

Thank you for your help in this matter.

Yours Sincerely

Trevor

You should of course work on changing your diet for the better, but the best prostate nutrients are:

1. Saw Palmetto
2. Beta-sitasterol
3. Lycopene
4. Pygenum (spelling?)
5. Zinc

You might want to try out a product called ProstaQ. I have been on that recently for prostatitis. I was also on 3 weeks of doxycycline as I do not care for the quinolone drugs and their potential dangers (Cipro, etc). The two seemed to do the trick. The link to the ProstaQ site is indicated below. You can call them and get a trial bottle for $5 for a month's supply.

Hi, Trevor.

Listen to Helping You and Been There.

One of the most common causes of prostatitis is not having orgasm often enough. That is why the doc has recommended a weekly prostate massage during the treatment (He has, hasn't he?) SO, having a daily orgasm would be helpful right now while you are treating this.

See the prostate archives for other suggestions.

Hi Doctor Walt,
Thanks for your input. To answer your question, no my doc did not recommend a weekly prostate massage but he did suggest masterbation during the treatment of Cipro
My question is, should I take the Cipro are there alternative treatments without the drugs side effects etc?
Thanks again
Trevor

Hi, Trevor.

For one episode I would take the Cipro. However, if this becomes recurrent, other options open up.

Thanks for the advice Dr Walt.
I would also like to ask you if Blastocystis Hominus (this was found 3 months ago in a stool sample) could have any significance or relation to the bacteria found in my semen?
I know it's a difficult question but I was quite sick for a while with BH and changed my diet. Now I feel better but the frequent urination that started at the same time as the BH has NOT subsided.
kind regards
Trevor

Thanks, Trevor.

Possibly but not likely.
