radiation burns

Cheri ~ Dad wrote this down for me to send to you: My cancer is cured. How can I treat the cure? In 1996, I had 35 external radiation treatments. My PSA increased in the fall of 2001. Jan.23,2002, I had iodine seed implants. In June 2002, a pubic catheter was installed. In late Sept.2002 I started hyperbaric oxygen treatments for the burn. Completed 110 hours in Dec.2002. Jan. 13, 2003, I had a cystoscopy. It showed by bladder was badly inflamed and shriveled up. I take 2 40 mg. oxicontin per day for pain. No trouble passing urine. It burns, but my bladder won't hold but about 1 oz. I have to go every 45 min. to 1 hr. and the pain is about the same as it's always been. My doctors have not encountered this. Does anyone know anybody that have had this much trouble and did it ever get better? GDM
Dad's dr. called him this morn. and said he'd talk to his comrades and see if they could come up with anything; also to keep searching. Love, mom

Hi, Cheri.

Sounds like the treatment complications were worse than the disease. Pretty common with prostate cancer which is why many physicians are now saying that watchful waiting is the preferred way to approach this kind of cancer.
Radiation burns are permanent and progressive. To my knowledge he has no options left.

However, if he would practice serious wellness, he would have the best chance of quality time for the time he has left.

Walt

Certainly he has options left, such as bladder removal.
How would he practice "serious wellness"? Thanks!
