excessive urination

Posted by Trevor on May 10, 2003 at 06:48:04:

Dear Doctor Walt,

I wrote to you last November regarding symptoms of excessive urination.

My Urologist diagnosed me as having a corynebacteria for which I took CIPRO with a dosage of 2 x 500 mg per day for 6 weeks. The bacteria was found in a semen test & I still have frequent urination.

After a further semen test I am pleased to say, I am cured of the Corynebacteria but now enterococci has now appeared in my semen and I have been prescribed 5 weeks of AUGMENTIN, dosage = 2 x 1000 mg per day. 2 grams a day!!

Is this a common bacteria found in semen?
Is it necessary to treat this enterococci bacteria?
What will happen if I decide not to treat this?
Can this be treated with alternative medicine?
I'd appreciate any information you my have or know about how this bacteria gets into the prostate gland?
Is this a usual dosage of AUGMENTIN?
Can I set up a pay per consultation with you by phone?

Once again, thank you for your kind help in this matter.

Yours Sincerely

Trevor

Hi, Trevor.

This is a perfect example of what happens then only the symptom is treated and not the cause. The fact that the infectious organism was found in the semen says this is chronic and recurrent prostatitis. Start by going to the prostate archives and letting us know what you learn.

In order of your questions:

Semen is normally sterile of bacteria.
Sure but not ONLY that--unless you want to nearly guarantee a recurrence like you have already had (more to come). See above.
You do not want to do that.
See prostatitis archives and begin wellness.
When the prosatate is chronically congested, bacteria can more easily get a good hold. The Prostate archives explains that.
Only your doc can tell you that. I would use about a gram every 8 hours for what you had--to try to avoid resistant organisms from developing.
The Health Coaching Protocol is how you can do that but, for something this simple, you certainly do not need that.

Hope this helps. Let us know what you learn and how you do.

Walt

Hi Doctor Walt,

Thank you very much for your swift response and valued advice. I'll place an order for your book later this week.
I'd appreciate very much if you could answer some more questions I have.

I checked out the prostate archives and unfortunately found nothing related to enterococci bacteria in semen. The only remote relation I found is I used to suffer a lot with hemorrhoids.

You mentioned "This is a perfect example of what happens then only the symptom is treated and not the cause".........
How can the cause be treated when I have no idea where this enterococci bacteria could have come from? Obviously, neither does my urologist.

You also mentioned "Semen is normally sterile of bacteria" but how often is enterococci found in the prostate? The archives have no mention of this bacteria, have you heard of anyone else with this complaint? and how common is it?

Sorry to be a pain but I don't quite understand what you mean in your 2nd answer .... "I should cure not ONLY the enterococci--unless I want to nearly guarantee a recurrence like I have already had"....What other things should I cure? and what do you mean by "(more to come). See above"?

I'd like to reiterate, that the only symptoms I have are frequent urination. (in morning only, not at night) so it's not so serious, more annoying for 1st few hours of the morning.

My urologist "THINKS" this frequency is caused by the enterococci, therefore suggests the treatment of Augmentin but he is not saying I MUST definitely take the treatment.

I still don't know how this bacteria gets into the prostate gland and how dangerous it actually is, can you tell me?

Although I made a sperm count test & results were bad, lower than 2%. My Urologist also said this COULD be due to the bacteria (& bacteria COULD be reason frequency, I wish he'd make up his mind)and expects the count to normalise after treatment, I hope he's right. Not sure how to break it to my wife yet who is waiting patently to fall pregnant.

Finally, my urologist said "if we want children, then treat the enterococci, otherwise not". So he doesn't regard this as serious, is it?

Is taking Augmentin for 5 weeks likely to cause other problems?

Thanks again for your support and help.

Yours Sincerely & kind Regards

Trevor

Thanks, Trevor.

Enterococci are EVERYWHERE! Your urologist knows EXACTLY where this bug came from. He may not know WHY which is a fault of allopathic education. Only when your prostate's resistance gets overwhelmed, can they establish themselves there. Once they ARE established the antibiotics are probably necessary.

I would make sure you had an orgasm at least once a day and see what your sperm count was a couple of months from now. As you may know the average sperm count (in the USA) is less than 50% of what it was just 50 years ago (and continuing to drop) due to environmental pollution--so the assumption that it is the infection is not really valid. In my opinion the urologist is just being a bully.

You have to get rid of the mechanism that made your prostate a fertile breeding ground for this germ or it will recur (or some other germ will settle in) over and over until your have BPH and enough scarring to start blocking your urinary flow.

The bracing is the connection between your prostate and your hemorrhoids.

Hope this helps.

Walt

Thanks Dr Walt,
Do you think the corynebacteria (which has since been removed), could have been the mechanism that made my prostate a fertile breeding ground for this enterococci germ?
If not, do you have any ideas how can I found out which MECHANISM caused my prostate to become a breeding ground for this enterococci germ?

kind regards
Trevor

PS forgot to mention.........

I was diagnosed with Blastocystis hominus last year and still have it but have learned to live with it.
Could this be a mechanism?
Thanks for your help
best wishes

Hi, Trevor.

No.

The most common cause is infrequent orgasm and chronic bracing of the levator ani.

Trevor,

No. Both are related to chronic bracing but I think that is the only connection.

Hi Dr Walt,

Thank you again for you prompt reply.

Would you suggest frequent orgasm & relaxation as the ONLY treatment necessary or would I need to take the Augmentin for the 5 weeks also to be rid of the enterococci?

Is it safe to have intercourse? I mean, can this enterococci be passed to my wife and then ping pong?

Does your book explain how to correct the chronic bracing?

kind regards
Trevor

Hi, Trevor.

In order:

Orgasm and SR are the most important things. Othere things on the list would be the rest of the wellness recommendations. If it were me, I would see how much that helped and if there were any symptoms after a few months consider the antibiotic then. Remember this antibiotic will do a lot of damage to your intestinal ecology.

Yes. No.

My book would help you understand why this would work but the best explanation of options are in the archives about bracing.

Hope this helps.

Walt

Several ways:

Use the search engine. Go to the home page to the article "How to be Healthy". Go to the glossary. Go to the archives.

Hope this helps. There will be a book out in about a year that is about this.

Dear Doctor Walt,

I have heard bacterial prostatitis, particularly if the bacteria is corynebacteria can be passed back and forth between partners during intercourse, is this correct? Should Is there a need to wear a condom with this?
Thank you and kind regards
Trevor

Thanks, Trevor.

In my opinion, IF your partner is normally healthy, I do not believe these can be transmitted. If your partner practices even the minimal wellness described on this 'site, it is impossible.
