All of these posts about cancer hating oxygen and loving sugar have made me wonder... The same can be said for microorganisms like bacteria and fungi. Doesn't this dovetail with the theories floating around that viruses (for example human papilloma virus) and fungi (for example strains of Candia) lead to cancer?

No one yet knows the final trigger that converts normal cells into cancerous ones. It IS known that we all make cancer cells every day but our immune system just desroys them.
Also, many environmental substances (the easiest to change are those in our diet) are directly related to the incidence of cancer. Until we know the former changing the latter is the best we can do.
