Dear Doctor,
I had a tumor removed from my tongue recently and found out that it was cancer. Now it seems that it has spread to the lymph nodes on either side of my neck. The prognosis for this situation is not great. Can you offer any suggestions on how to progress....

JC

I've heard amazing things about the macrobiotic diet turning around end stage cancer. Dr. Sherry Rogers has written some books about this.

I have heard that lycopene can prevent oral cancer. Also, turmeric, resveratrol, and green tea have been proven to kill cancer cells.

see also the 4/14 post by Juan from Chile, as there are several references there.
The main thing is to make your immune system function the best it can. This would include finding out what your food intolerances are (through blood testing, or through elimination diet) and dumping anything that's not right for your body. Macrobiotics uses foods few people have intolerances to, which makes it a good starting point . Getting your elimination system going right is helpful, too. A colon cleanse (good one at www.herbdoc.com-uses 2 products, intestinal formula #1 and #2) and some liver/gallbladder flushes (see archives here) will help you push toxins out.
Sugar interferes with the ability of white blood cells to do their job for you, so kick sugar and soda out of your life if you haven't already.
Also, cut down stress and breathe good air to help healing. This could mean air filters in the house, moving out of the city, or getting out of the city on weekends- stay with friends or relatives who don't raise your blood pressure. Don't be afraid to cut people out of your life who give you more aggravation than pleasure- you don't have to burn bridges, just tell them you are too tired to socialize right now and concentrate your leisure time on people who you feel good around.
Think good thoughts and enjoy the beauty and good that you encounter.

Hi Jeane, sorry for your condition. This doctor advocates a wellness plan that includes eating whole, unprocessed foods, exercise, and most of all 2 twenty minute sessions of meditation or skilled relaxation daily. It's called the 'three legged stool'.

I think some of the other recommendations were really good too, and last I might suggest books by Louise Hay, one being "Heal Your Life".

Hi Jeane,

You have gotten a few suggestions here about the
macrobiotic diet. Check into this right away. My brother
(an MD) had a terminal cancer patient become cancer
free by doing a strict wellness program which included
macrobiotic diet, SR, and excercise. This was after all
conventional treatments failed to do her any good and
they told her she had only a few months. She said,
"forget that!! And then, took her wellness into her own
hands and got VERY educated VERY quickly. Also,
WATER, WATER AND MORE WATER. Stay alkaline!

As I said, this women was given a very short time to
live. She has now been cancer free for years, and
continues to amaze my brother. She MUST stay on the
diet to remain cancer free. She tried going off, and the
cancer came back, so the change must be for forever!!
Take it seriously, and take GOOD care of yourself.

Hello,
I just wanted to thank everyone for thier input. Funny, because as I type I have a book on a macrobiotic diet and one on Gerson also. I am wanting to go to Mexico, but the reason is actually to get some less expensive dental work done there. I want to get the mercury out of my mouth! I do appreciate all the good idea's. I am going to go look now for cancer archives?
