Dr. Stoll-Update on Dad w/brain tumor

Posted by Lorna [935.74] on June 30, 2004 at 20:18:39:

Hi Dr. Stoll,

My dad got out of the hospital and is temporarily staying with my sister. They have him on Decadron and Dilantin until further notice. He is doing well and regaining his strength and thinking abilities. He is back on the computer and is reading again. Tomorrow, we have an appointment with the neurologist who did the surgery and the day after with an oncologist.

They found the tumor was Lymphoma B-cell and that is all I know right now and only heard that second hand from the social worker. I have been unable to talk to the doctor, so I want to ask all the questions I can of him.

I searched your archives for the cancer and could not find them. The archives you refer to in many posts seem to be missing. Were they some of the unfortunate ones that were deleted in the crisis you had a while back?

In the meantime, I have ordered Dr. Lorraine Day's information and am waiting for that to come in.

I am not sure what to ask tomorrow, I guess I will have to see during the appointment. I don't want to be overbearing on my father either. He has to make his own decision on the treatment options, but I do want to make sure he is fully informed in all cases. Whatever he decides, I will support him 100%.

hey lorna...

glad to hear the operation went well....that's one big hurdle he's over and now he can work out what his options are in the knowledge that his body is now in much better shape to fight.

keep us updated, good job for supporting him so much and best wishes to both of you,

chris.

Thanks, Lorna.

There IS a place for conventional medicine and this was one of them. His biggest concern right now must be the CANCER which the surgery really did nothing about. The decadron and dilantin are only ways to delay the return of his symptoms.

Go to the cancer archives and contact the Cancer Control Society at (213) 663-7801. Also read Dr Gordon's book: "Comprehensive Cancer Care--Integrating Alternative, Complementary and Conventionsl Therapy". The sooner he gets started with what HE can do the more effective it will be.

Good luck!

Walt

Thanks Dr. Stoll. I will call them as soon as I get more info from the surgeon today. I will keep you posted on all we do and his progress. I ordered the book from Alibris for a grand total of $5.16.

The good thing about my dad is that he is willing to try anything. He listens now to what I say and that is a little scary. But, I think it will be a good journey for all involved.

I am a book freak. You tell me what you want and I'll find it at a bargain almost every time! The actual book was only $1.67, the shipping made up the rest. LOL
