Epididymitis

Hi Dr. Stoll-

I've been a faithful peruser and sometime message poster on your website for about 2 years now. I also have a copy of your book, I can't say enough about it. But I think I may have found a topic you haven't dealt with yet (I did a quick search and nothing came up).

My husband has lumps in both of his testicles- an ultrasound revealed epididymitis, not cancer, thank God.
He's been on Levoquin and Celebrex for a while to no avail. His doctor decided to stop the Levoquin after 3 weeks and keep him on the Celebrex. That's what he's doing now.

My husband has watched me improve my diet and health habits for years with little to no interest. I'm not perfect, but I'm hoping he'll respond to some suggestions now that allopathic drug therapy clearly is not helping him with this.

What specifically can he do? He's 31 years old, no previous disease. Symptoms include shooting pains, dull ache in groin region and abdomen in general, feeling of needing to empty bladder more after urinating fully.
His doctor did a prostate exam to check for inflammation; I thought the entire WORLD heard my husband scream!

My poor hubby finally admitted to me that he's been living with these symptoms for about 5 years to varying degrees. That makes me think it's his lifestyle (social beer drinking, bad food, etc.)He seems like he might be ready to make some lifestyle changes, but what should he do? He is taking no vitamins or drugs besides the Celebrex. Should I start him on Ester-C?

Thanks so much and I hope you're doing well...
Cara

Hi, Cara.

There is nothing like a stubborn male, is there?

Of course this has the same causes as chronic prostatitis (actually, it is the prostatis that caused the epididimyitis) (see the archives). He has to do two things: !. All the things suggested for chronic prostatis and, 2. Practice serious wellness to improve his immunity.

Once he realizes his manhood is being threatened, perhaps he will take this seriously.

Let us know when he gets enlightened and how he does. There is nothing like a converted skeptic.

Walt

Cara I have found a definite link between beer drinking and epididymitis ( at least in my case ). See link below.
