I read a few years back that the Mayo Clinic along with Exact Lab. had released data for screening of cancerous & precancerous lesions using a test for DNA found in a stool sample. It was thought to be 91% sensitive for detecting polyps & cancers. Does anyone know if this is available for clinical use yet? Thanks.

Hi Linda, I caught the very end of a segment on Dr. Dean Edell's radio show
the other day, in which he was discussing this new test. I thought he called it
something like the PreJen test, and he said it was far more accurate & useful
than the fecal occult blood sample test, and maybe as valuable as
colonoscopy. I'm sure going to do some digging now to find out about this,
as I'm supposed to have a colonoscopy next month. Will post my findings.

But now there is an excellent patient-friendly option for people unwilling to
undergo a colonoscopy and looking for a more sensitive non-invasive option
than fecal occult blood testing. Exact Sciences, the makers of PreGen-Plus,
announced today that their safe and non-invasive DNA-based stool test will
now be widely available through the LabCorp testing centers across the
country.
PreGen-Plus is an effective, easy-to-use and completely non-invasive
screening option for the more than 80 million Americans who should be
screened for colorectal cancer.
PreGen-Plus is safe, simple and non-invasive:
Requires only a single stool specimen
No bowel preparation
No sample manipulation
No medication or dietary restrictions
The following video (http://www.newstream.com/assets/2003/09/09/

PreGen-PlusT methodology.

Thanks, MaryB.
Sounds like a stool PAP test. Hope it pans out.

Hi Mary,
Thanks for posting this. Neither link worked for me (expired?), but a quick google search turned up this one.
http://www.labcorp.com/services/hcp/colorectal_cancer/
Looks like it would be best used for low-risk patients.
Hope you get a change to try it out!
