Listened to this podcast today. Dr Stoll, I think you'll like this, it's everything you have taught. Can you possibly listen and offer your thoughts? Just click the link below and it should play (31mins duration).

"This week on Fitness Rocks I have an interview with Dr. Neal Barnard, founder and President of the Physician’s Committee for Responsible Medicine. Dr. Barnard has published extensively on the importance of nutrition in health and prevention of chronic disease - including cancer. In addition to the Physician’s Committee for Responsible Medicine Dr. Barnard has also developed the Cancer Project and a website designed to educate doctors about nutrition called NutritionCME.org. Dr. Barnard has published several books on lifestyle for the general public, including:

Breaking the Food Seduction: The Hidden Reasons Behind Food Cravings—And 7 Steps to End Them Naturally

and:

Dr. Neal Barnard’s Program for Reversing Diabetes: The Scientifically Proven System for Reversing Diabetes without Drugs"

Thanks, UK!

My thoughts almost exactly. The only thing is that Dr Barnard is still missing the magnifying effects of aerobic exercise and SR in his world view. Of course, by concentrating on the nutrition, he is doing a lot of good. Perhaps my more comprehensive approach is too complex for most people to appreciate? I have faith that, eventually, the more comprehensive approach will be our "salvation". However, along the way, Dr Barnard's information will be of iestimable value and should be practiced as much as possible.

Hope this helps.

Walt

I agree about the SR, I am wondering if this topic will come up in future podcasts. I am subscribed via RSS using my new "Google" phone, and I will post any future items you may be interested in. It's a great show and perfectly complements your ideas.

I was wondering if you'd be interested in talking on the show yourself? I would like to suggest you to be interviewed. Let me know and I'll do it.

I was disappointed in the interview because it was clearly scewed towards vegans and I really do not believe that all meat and dairy cause cancer. Furthermore, it was clear to me the interviewer asked the questions that the doctor wanted to answer. Contrived.

Whilst I eat meat sparingly I would not wish to give it up and I believe that it provides good nutrients if it comes from organically reared grass fed animals. Also, I thought that Dr Stoll was an advocate of good organic dairy because of the good fats in it.

Hi sonia, for me it wouldn't matter if organically-fed animals provided some nutrition, since my motivation for being vege is mostly with regard to animal welfare, the environment, and global poverty.

Perhaps Dr Barnard thinks along similar lines. It would be interesting to find out if he would concede that there are varying qualities of meat that may provide benefit when consumed. Are there any studies to support this?

I am not sure about the interviewer skewing the questions; it seemed to me that their interests and principles were along the same lines so the interview would naturally resolve towards agreement.

Dr Stoll will hopefully answer your question about dairy consumption.

Thanks, UK.

I have done more "interviews" like this than I can count. Some are listed in my CV on this website. Unfortunately, my gradual health deterioration includes brain function and I no longer trust the nimbleness of response, required for an interview, to be productive. It is time for the younger generation to do this. It has already cost me more than enough, to have been one of the early "pioneers" in the field, to damage it by doing more interviews now.

I do appreciate your thinking of me, though. The "Stoll Foundation" will have to continue my work when I am gone.

Walt

UK,

As you know, I was raised on a large dairy farm in Ohio. We got all the whole (average 3,5% butterfat), unpastuerized and unhomogenized milk we could drink. I do not believe that this kind of milk is dangerous to your health.

Hope this helps.

Walt

Thanks Walt, I'm still completely undecided on this topic. Contradictingly, I'll eat cheese but won't drink milk. I feel that milk being only for calves seems quite sensible, however it depends upon how one defines "food" in terms of what is "natural" and what isn't. Tough question.

So, the milk you drank was raw? And you still drink it this way?

Thanks, UK.

I quickly got out of the "habit" of drinking the "chalk water" town people called milk once I got to college and never regained that habit. Since I have learned the risks of commercially available dairy I have not had a glass of milk for probably 30 years.

The milk we used, as we grew up, was exactly as it came of the cow and, frequently, within a few hours of it's production--always within a few days.

Like the difference in taste with organic anything, there is no comparison!
