Many health sources recommend DGL for canker sores. It is an extract of licorice root with acids removed. But the DGL sold in stores dissolves quickly and doesn't stay long in your mouth. There is a new product now being tested that sticks in your mouth a releases DGL over hours. You can get a free sample for testing at http://orahealth.com. It worked very well for me.
