Help! Scared to death because of Palpitations

Posted by Manuela on September 21, 1998 at 00:26:03:

Hello !
I dont have fast heartbeat mine feels like it is actually skipping beats and stops beating for a few seconds... or how should I say jumping... its hard to describe!

Here is my story:
I have had Heartpalpitations very severly since last Sept. when my daughter was born. I have seen a cardiologist whom assured me it was "nothing" to worry about.
But even though I went to see him I still have the PVC's and they scare me to death when they happen. It has come to a point where I get scared of leaving the house because I am afraid I will pass out one of these days and or drop dead.

I hear so many different types of PVC's are out there and some are more dangerous and some are not. Here is what it says in the letters from my dr.:
1st letter after the Holter Monitor:
"no significant dysrythmias. However, patient does have evidence of ischemia on several strips during complaints of chest pain and/or palpitations. This may be a false positive, however, recommend further eval with ETT.

ok then I did an Stress test: after that he wrote:
" Stress echo was negative for ischemia. No arrythmias were noticed"
(((I could have told him that since I knew none had happened during the test !It's always like that when you want "them" to happen, they dont!)))

then I went back for an Echo test:
"Echo shows no obvious MVP but clinically I feel she has it. Advised to avoid coffee, caffeine drinks, alcohol. etc. "

Well, so much about my visits to the Cardio Man. I am not any smarter than before because I still have my PVC's and still don't know why they come since they do out of the blue and if they are dangerous. Can someone explain what my Dr. said in simple english to me? I am from germany and just moved to the USA and being in a foreign country doesnt help it scares me even more even though i know you all have some of the greatest Dr's here in the world. But what if that Cardio Man had missed something?? Could he have? Since I still have these severe PVC's??
I don;t understand what he means CLINICALLY I feel she has MVP!?

Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

Dear Manu,

I submit that it is the other way around: The most important likely cause for your PVCs IS your being "scared to death".

The second most likely contributing cause is a low intracellular magnesium (almost certainly there because of it being precipitated my your last pregnancy).

Go to the archives for this BB & read everything you can find about ANY dysrrhythmia since they are all related to the low magnesium & the storage of stress-effect in the hypothalamus.

Then, if you are ready to learn more, read Dr Pelletier's classic: "Mind as Healer, Mind as Slayer". You will find that this book was written about you (get the most recent edition).

THEN, if you still have questions, write again right here on this BB.

Walt
