A-fib and Magnesium testing

Posted by John on August 15, 1999 at 22:03:16:

Dr. Stoll,

I have had atrial fib off & on for about 9 months now. My cardiologist has told me that I will have it for the rest of my life.

I approached him with documents from your site on magnesium deficiency as well as other articles; all of which very plainly stated that most arrhythmias are caused by intracellular magnesium deficiencies.

You guessed it - he blew off my research and said "Stay on your medication". I think that I have another doctor who may be willing to order the proper testing. Here's the catch - I live in rural North Dakota. Where is the closest reliable lab that can test for magnesium deficienies?

Thanks for your help,
John

Hi, Jo0hn.

You are well rid of that doc. This is a good test for whether his ego is more important to him than your welfare. After all, wouldn't he look foolish (in his eyes) if you actually found something that worked better than he knew how to do?

In the back of my book is an (800) number for Meridian Valley Laboratories. They can tell you who, in your area, would know enough to order the intracellular tests AND what to do about the results. If it were me, I would get their intracellular mineral "panel". For what it tells you, it is well worth the little extra cost.

Let us know what you learn. Remember, we still do not know enough to be sure what YOUR normal is. Only your bodymind can do that for you--it is your own personal laboratory.

Walt

Just for the record, few months ago I asked Meridian to give me name of practitioner in my area who was experienced with their food allergy tests and they told me they could not give out any names, confidential.

I have A-fib and paroxsymal atrial tachycardia.
Sometimes gets very bad. Have tried magnesium supplements
but doesn't seem to help. Doc. has me on Sotalol medication.
Please help if anyone knows good doc in Canada(BC) who
could test for intracellular magnesium deficiency.
Thanks for any help you can give.

Hi, Bill.

How much IV magnesium did your doc use to get your magnesium up to the level where you could maintain it orally and what kind of oral magnesium did you take and how much for how long?

Intracellular magnesiumn level is the most commonly missed cause for all cardiac dysrrhythmias. However, the abberant signals of a chronically alert hypothalamus is a close second. The only thing yet known to permanently resolve THAT is the regular practice of SR as described. Of course, combining both would magnify the effect of each.

Talk at me.

Walt

Dr. Stoll,
Thank you for your response.
I have not as yet had magnesium IV. Don't know anyone
here in BC (western Canada) who does this. My regular
physician is allopathic so I doubt he would even consider this. I have been using about 400 mg daily of magnesium complex(oxide, citrate, fumurate, malate, succinate and gluturate).
Please see my complete story in thread titled "Dr. Stoll here's my story".

Thanks again.
