Dear Doctor:

My daughter's college roommate has been diagnosed with WPW. If she cannot find a doctor who understands her condition (in Pittsburgh, PA) she will have to quit school and return home to Alabama. Can you help me find the names of doctors in the Pittsburgh area who can help this wonderful girl? She is very frightened by these attacks, but I hate to see her give up her scholarship to return to Alabama. There must be someone who can help her! Thank you in advance for your response.

Sincerely,

Beth Sprague

Hi, Beth.

Wolfe-Parkinson-White is one of the few dysrrhythmias that have a structural (genetic) cause and so surgery frequently will help---but many times needs to be repeated.

HOWEVER, even WPW is always aggravated by other things and those things are a lot easier to do something about than having the surgery. Even if dealing with the other causes is not enough to totally relieve the condition, doing away with them would make any surgery a lot more likely to be successful.

This girl needs to spend a few hours on the link I have prapared for you below. Knowledge is power.

If I were her, I would first learn how to do the regular practice of SR and correct my low intracellular magnesium (also in the archives). Neither of these things could do anything but help her. See the glossary for any unfamiliar terms.

Walt
