Extra beats same as A-fib.?...read archives

Posted by Reni on July 22, 2000 at 16:09:08:

Hi, I read the archives on MVP and A-fib, but I am not sure if what I have is considered A-fib. I have had flutters skips, etc. I understand the MVP is not the cause and it is most likely stored stress. One time after calling it in on an event monitor the technician said it was a run of several extra beats, at least 8, but not to worry since it corrected itself. I did not have a rapid pulse that I could tell and it only lasted a few seconds. Just wondering if that is the same as A-fib or is that just considered extra beats. Have been taking Mag orotate 200mg and CoQ10 100 mg 1x day and practicing SR. Anyone??? Thanks

I have the same problem. I have found out that when I experience flutters, what I always thought was an early beat was in fact, several early beats in a row. It frightens me, and I know that makes it worse, but I sit in apprehension of the next one. I have experineced it so far 3x in one day each time it was 9 in one reading, 2, then 5. I really don't understand if it is a serious or not, especially since they happen so often in a day. I believe that A-fib is problem of rapid pulse, I am not sure though. I hope you find some peace, as I am trying also with SR and supplementation.

Hi, Reni.

These are probably PVCs (premature ventricular contractions). There are many different types of dysrrhytmias and it takes an EKG to determine which one they might be.

However, ALL dysrrhythmias are made more likely by low intracellular magnesium and stress.

Thanks for replying. They told me it was pac, and there were several at a time. Sometimes they happen and then stop and start again within a few seconds. I'm scared. I am still experiencing them today, it has been two days straight for me. I am not used to that. I am afraid of going into A-fib. Now even my left eyelid is twitching and I am tired of waiting for the next flutters to hit. I keep going out and doing what I normally do but I'm trying to keep pushing through. I've increased the magnesium and the SR. Still frightened the next one will be my last one. Do I just ignore them and keep up with the mag and sr and hope they go away? Thank you so much for listening..

Hi, Reni.

Since one of the causes of pac is stress, FEAR is contraproductive. I have never known ANYONE who died or was damaged by pac. I have known many who were "scared to death" but did not really die. This is a case of "You have nothing to fear but fear itself."

The longer you do your SR, the sooner it will be easy not to fear. The longer you take your Magnesium, the better the chances are that you will not have to experience the episodes.

Let us know how you do.

Walt
