Confused, diff. btwn A-fib and PAC,PVC's?

Posted by Erin on August 06, 2000 at 10:12:30:

I read the archives here, but I am still unclear on if A-fib is the same as a few runs of PAC's in a row? I have had PAC's and PVC's here there feeling like flutters or skip, or thumping feeling. Sometimes I also have the flutter feeling in my neck and in my eyelid and also on the lower left side of back, which I attribute to nervous twitch. Oddly it only appears on the left side. Phsycological? Ocassionaly in the past had tachycardia which was related to panic attacks. Can someone clarify the difference? Much appreciated!! P.S. results of monitor show pac, pvcs and some runs of flutters and a few times when an extra beat would pop in after a few normal beats for about half hour.

Erin,

To understand any explanation of this you will need to understand the anatomy and physiology of the heart conduction system. Your reference librarian can help you with that. Once you have that information under your belt, you will likely no longer have the questions, but if you do, feel free to ask again.

Seriously, this would take MUCH too long to explain and would require pictures, which are in the book but are still beyond MY abilities to provide in this media.

Let us know what you learn.

Walt
