Irregular heartbeat

Posted by Azorean on August 31, 2000 at 17:31:14:

I actually have two things,on his regular checkup my 16 month old son was diagnosed with an irregular heartbeat,we have a new doctor who was surprised that our old doctor never picked up on it,he says that there is nothing to worry
about unless we see that when he is doing an activity and suddenly seems out of breath then we should bring him in for some tests. My question is should we worry about our little
toddler's irregular heartbeat or should we get him tested?
He also has developed redness in his penis(he is not circumsized)the doctor examined him and says that he has an
infection that is slowly closing up his pee hole,he told us to use a mixture of .5% hydrocortisone cream and polysporin
and said that if that doesn't do it we need to put him on antibiotics and if that doesn't work he needs circumsison,is he recommending the right creams because we really don't want either the antibiotics or circumsision if we can help it.

thanks

Hi, Azorean.

Meticulous penile hygiene it the hallmark of preventing and curing this problem with the penis (unrelated to the cardiac dysrrhythmia--at least directly). The reason for circumcision was always just to make it easier to DO meticulous penile hygiene.

His cardiac dysrrhythmia is likely due to a genetic propensity for needing a higher level of intracellular magnesium. First you need to rule out a structural problem with the cardiologist. I certainly would not wait until he was "short of breath" for that evaluation!

Look in the archives about cardiac dysrrhythmias and about magnesium.

THEN, if you still have questions, write again.

Walt
