Irregular heartbeat

Posted by
The Guru on March 29, 2001 at 13:10:42:

I am a hypertensive patient and my heart is skipping a beat
although I am on verapamil, minipress and zestoretic.
What could be done to help.

Magnesium may help. I would check with the doctor since you are already on other medications.

Hi, The.

Listen to Jan (Thanks, Jan!)

BUT, be sure your doc knows enough to not just do a serum magnesium and does an intracellular magnesium. See the archives about magnesium and about cardiac dysrrhythmias.

Also, you would be wise not to put all your eggs in one basket since chronic stress-effect storage in the hypothalamus (from where the heart rate is controlled) is also an important factor.

Let us know what you learn and how you do.

.Thanks for answering my last question.
What alternative methods can I use, herbal or otherwise,
along with Verapamil 240 mg,Zestoretoc 20mg.and Minipress
5mg daily, to bring my BP to a lower reading. I am still
averaging 145/84 during the morning and mid afternoon and up to 165/95 or 170/95 sometimes in the evening.
My allopathic doctor does'nt want to increase any of these meds.
I hope you are keeping well.

Hi, Barbados.

You might try switching from regular verapamil to the verapamil SR (same daily dose). Your doc shouldn't have any problem with that. Also, most people's pressure is higher in the morning than later in the day.

Have you tried adding the essential oils to your regimen? The chances are that in a few months your doc would be reducing your drugs.

Doc,
My pressure was e.g higher (170/90) yesterday in the evening around 6-9 p.m and I am on 240 mg veapamil SR daily.
The following morning it was 145/84.The PM bp has me worried
as the upward rise starts around 6.00 p.m daily.
I started flaxseed oil 1000mg daily . Should I also add omega 3 1000mg for better results?
Thanks and regards,

Dootsford, When I had high blood pressure before going thru the cleanses etc, I split my 240 calan in half in a.m. and the other half in p.m around 3 o'clock and it helped a bunch. My doc said this is not recommended to all but some people it helps. For me it really did. Then I juiced 6 carrots with a clove of garlic, 2 stems of celery, and 1 cup of spinach leaves for about a year and it knocked it down from 155 to 160/90 in p.m to about 130/70 in p.m and about 110/65 in a.m. At my last visit to Doc I had cut my dosage to 90mg of calan with no pressure rise on either side. I am hoping to get off it all together and am doing it very slowly. Just thought I would let you know what worked for me. Calan is same as what you are taking, at least I never could tell the difference. Good luck

To Davetx,
Thanks for you help. You say you broke your tablet in half.
You made me realise that I am only on 120mg of verapamil .
My doctor prescribed a 240mg tab. to be taken half daily.
Thanks again

Hi, Dootsiford.

Your doc should have some idea why your BP diurnal cycle is reversed. May be significant.

To see how much the essential oils might help, you would need to take the doses described in the article about this on the homepage for a few months.

Let us know how you do.

Dr. Stoll,
I went back to my doctor today. Was given an ECG. the reading is the same as last January .
Now he has increased my Verapamil to 240mg daily.and added
1/2 tab soluble aspirin daily. He says my left ventricular hypertrophy is causing poor coronary circulation and therefore the need for aspirin.
Now you have an update on my position, will the essential oils interfere in any way.
Prostate cancer: will this heart condition rule out sexual intercourse or any other method of prostate drainage ?
Any sugestions for alternative medicine to inhibit prostate cancer growth without interfering with the hypertensive meds. Thanks for your help

Hi, Dootsiford.

Essential oils will not interfere--likely will help with any heart condition.

Your doc should know if your heart will stand the strain of intercourse.

Wellness is the only thing that I know of to help.

I lowere my BP trying the herbs and amino that are said to
help and only had to take them for a short while.

I would look into the Cottage Cheese/flax or fish oil
treatment for cancer. Not sure about that yet but am
looking into it.
