Dr Dave: B.E.S.T.

Dave,
Would you be so good as to comment on the bioenergetic synchronization technique espoused by Dr Morter? From the little I know about it, it seems similar to many of the methodologies discussed in this forum--but less complete.
Thanks,
Vicki

I do not know a whole lot about the Bio Energetic Synchronization Technique. I do know that it is not what most people would consider a traditional chiropractic approach and seems to entail "extra" things besides the principle that 'a properly functioning nervous system is the key to a body maintaining homeostasis and essentially, health.'

It is stated by it's practitioners as a "non-forceful care that uses body, mind & spirit to release internal healing power."

From my understanding, they do a lot of trigger point therapy that brings up emotions, much like that of a rolfer. It is also my understanding that it is similar to a techniques known as Network Spinal Analysis.

What I have been told is that if you are going to see someone who does B.E.S.T or NSA that you should find and extremely reputable pratitioner because so much of what occurs in on an emotional level and someone who helps you bring that stuff up should be knowledgable in helping you know what to do with it.

Hope that helps some.

SIDE NOTE:
Interestingly enough, Dr. Morters brother, Mr. Chip Morter, MS was my spinal anatomy teacher. His class was extremely hard because there were portions of the test where if you just guess and get it wrong ,that it subtracts 1 for missing it AND it subtracts 1 that you got right just for gussing and not really knowing(misspelling a word also make it wrong AND a right one, he called it the "Right minus Wrong" system). He also would misspell words in a multiple choice answer, that would otherwise be correct, thus the "none of the above" would then be the right answer. If you ever got below a 50% on any test you automatically failed, even if you got 100% on the others. As you can imagine, we all hated him but when it came time for the spinal anatomy portion of National Board Exams we liked him a little better because we knew more than we would have, had he been easier.(no point to that, just felt like sharing)

My chiropractor uses BEST. As with any of the energy therapies, sometimes I see great results and sometimes I see nothing, at least those that can be discernable at the time. I also have been treated with N.E.T. -- and, again, sometimes the results are incredible, sometimes they are disappointing. Often there are many factors involved in treating a problem, so I just believe in doing whatever I can to chip away at it.

I love Dr. Stoll's bottom-line approach, though, and realize that BEST, N.E.T. and other techniques are means to relieve or alleviate symptoms or to provide the "mop up" help.
