Dr. Dave - Throat problem

Posted by Claire on September 20, 1998 at 11:29:55:

Dr. Dave, I've been having chiropractic treatment almost weekly for several monthes. Lately, I've had throat problems (tightness). Have been tested for strepp throat, my medical doc says it could be post nasal drip (something I hadn't had before treatment). Now, I read in another health bb that something similar could be caused by cervical spine joint ```? Could this be an adjustment problem? TIA

Yes it could be. Most of these that I have seen were 3rd cervical subluxations. These people described a throat constriction feeling, some to the point of mild nausea. Also, I have never heard of post nasal drip causing these symptoms. You may very well have PND but I would be suprised if that was causing the throat feeling.

Tell you chiropractor of this problem and of my experience that the 3rd cervical has seem to be the common link in these patients. Maybe that will help narrow his search and if that is the cause of your symptoms, they will resolve.

I'm more interested in why you are going to a chiropractor every week for months on end?

BTW, skilled relaxation too!

I am interested in consulting a chiropractor for a problem similar to that described by Claire. I am confused by the various submodalities (Network, Nucca, Activator..), and don’t have a clue how to go about finding an appropriate and competent person in my area. Some chiropractors advertise that they are "gentle" and don’t do any cracking and popping. This approach would certainly appeal to me, if it were as effective as the more forceful modalities.

Can you recommend anyone in Austin, TX, or if not, can you give me some direction for my search?

In appreciation,
Irene
