After a visit to the emerg. room, I was told that my 12 yr old son has costochondritis. The ER doc really didn't clarify all of my questions. I would like to know how long it is likely to last and what he can expect in the meantime. Any info would be greatly aprreciated.

Is the costo because of some physical exerstion or because of stress?

Melanie,
The treatment for an 11 year-old is the same as for an adult. Your problem will be that 11 year-olds frequently are beginniing to think they know it all and so are hard to get to do SR. Your only out will be to know that this is not life-threatening so if he wants to suffer, let him.
The reference is "Meditating With Children" by Deborah Rozman (Available through your lending library.) You can also read the costo archives and the bracing archives for options.
Let us know how he does (AND how YOU do.)

a word of advice.....
while in practice,I had been through several "waves" of chostocondritis "epidemics".....
often, VERY often, few adjustments would take care of those seemingly uncurable "labeled" folks....
fixing their diets, eliminating junk foods and alkalizing their systems speeds the process a lot.

Thanks Doc Ricky.
There is an epidemic of this in younger and younger patients now becausse of the increasing stress in the environment and the overconsumption of junk foods in our society. Your approach it ideal if you can get patients to cooperate.
Namaste`
