Dr. Stoll -- I just visited your site and a note from
"Nick"in 1999 who had asked you questions about TMJ and
hyperacusis. I could fill a book with all that I've gone through in the last two years. After many doctors, drugs, ear specialists AND even TMJ specialists (the splints
they put in started splintering. I lived in his office
2-3 times a week) I finally gave up. My primary care
doctor and I discussed chiropractic. I have now had a
little over a year and 1/2 of chiropractic (once a week
for the most part because twice a week was physically
too much for me) and the improvement is significant.
The chiropractor works on my jaw, and neck mostly. He
has CHANGED THE BITE!! My teeth used to CLAMP down.
I used to think that was NORMAL. They stayed that way
-awake or during sleep. I've also changed my posture
and watched that I don't place my hands around my face -
leaning into my chin. I started noticing a change after
just a few months of chiropractic. Two years ago I was
having ear infections back to back for nearly 9 months.
I have only had one ear infection in the last 18 months.
I'm 48.
Practically every symptom "Nick" wrote to you about with regard to his condition - I had and to some extent still have. My ears are still extraordinarily sensitive to sound. I cannot go to any place where there is an audience - or to the theater - movies or plays. Nor any live music - whether it is a single guitar or a symphony or any type of live sound. I am grateful in that the job I have now has piped in white noise. I lost a job over this condition -- and yes I almost went to court over it. We have a lot of people on our floor, but the sound is quiet. I can't work
on phones - because the ears are still too sensitive to
be on the phones all day -- but at least now I can put
the phone to my ear. I couldn't do that two years ago!
I couldn't sleep for many months because I couldn't even
lay down - even the outside of the ear hitting the pillow
in any way would hurt. Chiropractic. It has been the
best thing for me. I don't know how I could get the word
out for it, but if you get someone who knows exactly what
you're talking about -- it might be worth it. It has
been extremely difficult to go through it - I will say.
Very painful. And the repercussions have been hard on me.
But I didn't give up. And am grateful to have this kind of treatment.
After this last ear infection (in June of this year) I did
not see him for two months. Proof alone that I can go for
a while without chiropractic. My goal is to eventually
get to that point again. Not the infection (of course --
God those are debilitating) but I am striving to get into a position where I'm only seeing him once or twice a month. Thank you for listening -- and thank you so much for
showing me that someone else has had this problem. I'm hoping chiropractic will be helpful to someone else with this type of condition.

Thanks, KC.
Your story just points out the importance of structural medicine in cases like this. If ALL physicians were required to just read your story! However, we allopaths have a monopoly so we do not need to learn anything else :>(
