Chiropractors as PCPs - It is happening!

Read the article about how one managed care plan is using chiros as primary care physicians in Illinois. Amazing statistics!

very scarey,n offense doc kim. but chiropracors for the most part, pretend to be something they are not. i have friends who are chiros, and they say they picked this field,so they can do anything, nutr, accu, hoeop, another words they can do anything,by being a chiro. i laugh at the guys who are mds,or chiros, that take like a 600 hr accuppuncture course, and are calling themselves accupuncturist. meanwhile,a reg accupuncturist needs 2500 hrs. and the chiro excuse s that they already know anatomy and physiology, etc. well, accupuncture is totallly different, and only a very small part of it is anatomy and phys. also, alot of chiros do a short nutrition course,or homeopathy, etc and then claim to know more than they do. then alot of people try these thigs and dotget better, qand thin that accupunc dont work,or homeop, dont work. also, how can a chiro prescribe western meds? and if they start to,isnt this why most of them say that osteopaths sold out? chiropractors in general, claim to be a jack of all trades, and its very misleading. it is mpossible for someone to have an office for chiro, and learn accup, omeopathy, and cranial, and kinnesiology, and anything else at once in one lifetie, and understand the deep principles of each. there simply wouldnt be enough practice in one area to get real good at it. if they have mult doctors who specialize, thats different. i am not talking to you kmd,so dont take offense. its generalization.

I can understand your reasoning.

For example physical therapists often do 'manipulations' same thing as what chiropractors do but obviously its with less schooling (maybe a small part of a course) and less experience.

But then again alot of people go to their MD when they hurt their back ... good idea or no? I mean sure some MDs may attempt to treat this without prescribing drugs first or they may refer out for physical therapy but between a MD and chiro whom do you think would be more 'qualified' to treat a back problem?

I dont mind doctors trying to learn other areas; I do mind doctors doing treatments for money rather then to help the patient. Or doctors treating patients with limited knowledge so as to 'prescribe' things weather they be pills or supplements that the patient may not need.

Hi Doc Kim,

I'm going to post this again as I don't think anyone can open my last one.

One comment; IT'S ABOUT TIME!

I mistakenly posted a link to part 2 of the article about chiros being used as Primary Care Physicians. Below is the link to part 1. The results, so far, are amazing.

Thanks, Doc Kim!

Not surprising to ME since I worked with a Chiropractor in my office for years.
