farther down the page you mentioned something about finding the correct sleeping posture. could you please elaborate on that. i have trouble sleeping in any position except on my sides. consequently my shoulders curl under somewhat and i think that is contributing to my shoulder problems (they've improved alot since i began the sr). any advice? any sleep aids you might recommend?

The main thing is to never sleep on your stomach. It's terrible for your neck. Side and back sleeping are fine. When you are sleeping on your sides you want to make sure that when you bring your knees up at all that one doesnt flop over the other so that you are twisting yourself. This leads to pelvic problems for many people. As for your shoulders paying the price, and I know exactly what you're talking about, all I can say is that posture during the day, skilled relaxation, correcting the spinal misalignments that are there, and stretching your pectoral(chest) muscles before you go to bed and when you get up are all things that will help combat the unavoidable shoulder rounding that occurs with side sleeping. Having the right pillow is also important. By far the best are the 'orthopedic' type pillows with the raised portion for your neck.

Hope that clears things up some for you.
