Dr. Ferguson: recent muscle spasm/scoliosis posts

Dr. Ferguson,

Well, after much discussion with my husband (and a review of our budget) I have decided to take yours and Dr. Stoll's advise and see a chiropractor. I found one today and actually talked directly to the doctor on the phone. She was very helpful and answered all my questions, as well as asking alot of her own. What really impressed me was when she started talking about the importance of skilled relaxation, exercise and nutrition (but put emphasis on the SR). I can't wait to see her tomorrow; I know I will feel alot better (I always did in the past when I saw one). She said she will be taking x-rays, but I forgot to ask her about line analysis (you mentioned that; I don't really know what it is). I will be glad to finally be free of this pain, which has been with me for almost two weeks now, even though I'm on muscle relaxants. What I find interesting is that the pain has now moved from my hip and lower back to my upper back and shoulder area. Strange....

I was pleasantly surprised to find out that they deal with alot of patients that have insurance that doesn't cover chiropractic, and that they have special rates for these patients. They are also licensed physical therapists, so I can continue my PT with them (my insurance DOES cover that). I just think it will be more effective coming from them, because they will have a better knowledge of the back and take my scoliosis into account.

I will let you know how it goes. Thank you so much for all your advise.

BTW, have you ever heard of Network Chiropractic, or Dr. Richard Kay (in San Diego). My daughter is his office manager and was trying to hook me up with a Network Chiropractor in my area, but I couldn't find one.

Sara

From what I gather she surely will be doing line analysis. Basically it just means that they are SPECIFICALLY looking at which way to move things by measurements on your x-rays.

You stated:

Not strange at all. That is generally the progression of symptoms of this problem.

Regarding Network chiropractic. I don't know a whole lot but that it encorporates a lot of work regarding emotional connections to the musculoskeletal system. In the right hands it can be effective for the right patient. In unknowledgable hands or on the wrong patient it can be a very negative experience. I don't consider it traditional chiropractic but I wouldn't discourage someone from trying it either.

Pleas keep us posted.
