Little white bumps under the eye

Posted by Mary on May 04, 2003 at 06:07:03:

I have these little white bumps that do not hurt and look like little pieces of extra skin under my eyes. There are about six under my left and three under my right. The dermatologist says that they can be removed but may leave scars. What are they and is there a natural way to take care of them?

I friend of mine has them too. She has been trying to find the cause for a long time now, without success. She too was told that they can be removed, but that it would leave scars. I would love to know what causes them, also.

What both of you are describing seem to be a lid infection of the eye known as a "sty."

Stys are red, painful, tender swellings near the lash border of the eye and are usually filled with pus and may open and drain on their own. If an infection starts, apply warm, moist dressings to the area three of four times a day, and antibiotics may be necesary. If stys are not treated vigorously, the pus may spread the infection to other parts of the lid and crops of stys may result. Patients who have frequent infections should be examined to be sure they do not have diabetes.

Cleanliness is a must and patients should be instructed not to finger or rub their lids for fear of starting or spreading these infections.

I have had a couple of these small stys for a few years and they have remained the same size throughout, never draining once on their own. No irritation or puffiness has ever occurred, just these little white dots under the eyelids.

One day I decided to rid of these annoying "whiteheads" and gingerly drained them (one every week for cosmetic purposes) with a sterilized sewing needle. You need not excavate the sty, merely pierce a small opening and squeeze the pus out slowly. The results have been flawless, leaving no scarring at all, just a little bleeding that was practically unnoticeable. Apply warm, moist dressings to the area and antibiotics if necessary. I required neither as my stys were predominantly small in size.

I hope this has helped,

No they are not stys. I know what stys are and these are not it. These are not painful, itchy, or anything. They are tiny (almost the size of a tip of a pencil lead) in size and are a whitish color. They do not go away if poked and squeezed as I tried this. Also, I would not ever take antibiotics for something like this. Who the heck are you anyway and what are you doing on this board?

Hello Mary,
http://askwaltstollmd.com/archives/eye/61137.html

also look at http://www.curezone.com
in particular the Master Cleanse and the related cleanses (
liver+gallbladder cleanse to remove cholesterol stones from these
organs)

I know it sounds wierd =) but it will make sense once you go to the site
and read the articles and forums.

Good luck!

Hi, Mary.

I would have to see them to be sure but what you are describing are cholesterol deposits. They will frequently go away in a year or so by your taking the EFAs on the home page. This will also prevent more from forming.

Those docs who have said that they could remove them and that the surgery may cause scarring (as all surgery does) will admit to you that these are common cholesterol deposits.

Let us know what you learn and how you do.

Walt
