I have a physical coming up, and I evidence many of the lesser symptoms mentioned here (cold feet, etc). I plan to read the books and see if the 3-legged Stool might provide a better quality of life. But the physical is necessary. Walt, how can I get good service from my physician when I go for my physical?

Hi Phil - I'm neither Dr. Stoll or an MD but I'm an experienced patient. My I suggest you consider your medical history and illness until the present, try to remember if any of your symptoms seem to be related to other things historically, make a list of all the things YOU want to cover, make a list of questions (and possible answers to rebuttals on the important ones) and most importantly, and I cannot stress this enough, don't let that doctor walk out the door until you are satisfied that you have a) been appropriately examined & answered or (b) that your doctor just going through the motions. I have found that ultimately my health is in my hands but I need my doctors to work with me sometimes. Good luck.

Phil,
I think it depends on the Dr though sometimes you can Force
them to do their job but if they have no idea what you have
or having a bad day or just there for the money and their
mother wanted a Dr for a son you may have to keep hunting
till you find a good one but having a friend tell me that
I should go to the Mayo clinic if I wanted help because his
surgeon uncle had to to find out why he was having seisures
and they said it was from the meds that his Dr friend put
him on it seems like a crap shoot to get cured or helped.
When I Was in Excellent health and said so in a physical
questionare and the Dr insisted that no one was till he
tested me and changed his tune and I asked him How that could
be i have found that I Have to figure things out for my self
and TRY to get a Dr to do the tests I felt I needed and then
try to give me the things that the test results suggested
but I didn't have the Visual signs according to him so had
to go to Another Dr and Beg for B-12 shots and gave up after
4 and just took every type of B-12 suppliment and Hoped for
the best. If i didn't do this they would have done Nothing.
I even brought in the copy of a study that one Dr gave me
to support my beliefs and the Dr said, he was Too busy to
read it so woudn't even consider what i was believing was
going wrong and This all when I could Barely function so
many times you are just about on your own.

Hi, Phil.
Listen to Vince & June (Thanks, Vince & June!)
Another hint is to contact the AHNA http://ahna.org for information as to how to reach tne AHMA (whose contact information I have is outdated). Once you get that information, I would appreciate your passing it on so I can update my files.
That will at least find you a board certified doc who cares about doing a good job. If I knew what part of the country you came from I might know, personally, someone there.
Another way you can tell, BEFORE she lays a hand on you, would be to prepare a lifetime health history, exactly as described in the Health Coaching Protocol, & hand it to her as she enters the examination room. Be sure to just list the episodes and your age at the time---NO DETAILS. If she wants details she will ask. Details make it so long that they would daunt ANY doc in the beginning.
IF the doc does not take this information seriously, you are in the wrong office. Prepared properly, a quick overview of this essential record takes only a few minutes--IF the doc knows how to look for patterns. How to choose a quality doc is specifically covered, in detail, in my book.
Let us know how you do.
Walt
