I am concerned about the actions of the FDA and its failure to implement DSHEA as required more than three years ago. I am of the understanding that the FDA plans to unleash the GMP regs in total violation of the law. Under terms of DSHEA, the FDA is mandated to come out with Food Based GMPs, but they are promoting GMPs even more stringent than pharmaceutical GMPs. The FDA has made no effort to do honest small business impact assessments as required by law.

Now we have Mr. Durbin introducing S.722 The Dietary Supplement Safety Act, with Mr. Waxman on the verge of introducing a companion bill. These proposed bills are under the coordination of ICDRA, the UN umbrella group.

It is sad to see that members of the United States Congress are choosing to stand against their constituents.

I encourage you to vote NO on any bill that will restrict access to proven, long time used dietary and nutritional supplements.
