The TGA just removed over 1600 products from Australian health food store shelves, without producing so much as a single product assay proving contamination.
Hasn't it crossed the minds of the health food store owners/managers there that this didn't just happen- that it might be part of a calculated pharmaceutically oriented plan to crush our industry and to create a media circus to try to discredit natural products?

Well, it turns out that it IS part of an orchestrated plan to crush our industry:

Central to the takeover was creation of the World Trade Organization which was created by the Uruguay Round of GATT. Prior to the Uruguay Round, GATT had no teeth- GATT could not force nations to adopt international standards, could not force nations to change their laws to suit the whim of multinational corporate interests.

NOW, however, they CAN- they can do this via creation of a new international court called the Dispute Settlement Body of the WTO. This mickey mouse court does not follow British, or American, or Canadian or English rules of evidence. It is rigged to favor the multinationals interests, and no private citizen, no matter how well qualified, even has standing to appear before it, unless both conflicting parties agree to allow him or her to. The only people who have standing to appear before this court on the issue of vitamins are national reps who address the vitamin issue at meetings of the UN's Codex Alimentarius Commission's Committee on Nutrition and Foods for Special Dietary Use- but they all work for the FDA and their international counterparts, in other words- they're all stooges for the Pharma Cartel.

While the Cartel is attempting to push a very restrictive vitamin standard through to completion at Codex, they're politically trying to set the stage for this to happen all over the world via ongoing attacks against the dietary supplement industry via the media and via actions like the TGA's attack on Pan Pharmaceuticals and the resulting ensuing media circus. This is a PR gambit to try to create the idea in people's minds that vitamins are "dangerous" and the public "must be protected from them." Note the weapon TGA used to shut Pan down: Site Licensing. FDA in the USA intends to draft new Good Manufacturing Practice regulations this summer that will violate our law which forbids them from publishing new regulations for GMPs that exceed food based GMPs in scope. The Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act of 1994 narrowly prescribes how they may draft these new regs- but they want the same ability to attack us here that the TGA has just used against you guys, so they are pushing for that here, and in Canada right now.

There are legal battles right now in Canada to try to stop gazetting of new regulations that would harmonize Canada to Australia, and similar legal battles will occurr here in the USA the moment the FDA violates our law and tries attacking us via illegal GMPs. Meanwhile in the EU, the Alliance for Natural Health is trying to launch a lawsuit to overturn the EU Food Supplement Directive which is mindlessly restrictive. If they fail to overturn it, the EU will expand by 10 new nations to 25 next year, and there then wouldn't be any way to stop the Cartel from driving a horribly restrictive vitamin standard through to completion at Codex. The WTO could then force all nations to harmonize their laws to the finalized codex vitamin standard.

Without going into a lot more detail, this is the problem in a nutshell. The best way people can monkeywrench these proceedings is to assist ANH with donations so they can file a lawsuit to overturn the EU Food Supplement Directive. That is a winnable court case. ANH has waiting in the wings to take the case one of the best lawfirms in England, one of the few to ever successfully overturn an EU Directive.
