Hello:
It'll be a sad day in history when we no longer have the freedom to buy supplements.
The only alternative I can see is to grow or make my own medicine. I'm thinking maybe several pots in the basement under special lighting.
Does anyone know of a book or website that will instruct me in the making of natural medicine? I am especially concerned with Ephedra.

I think this is the way to go also and have been practicing. My latest excitement is that I made a formula to increase my stomach acid production and improve fat digestion. I'm amazed at how it's worked made a difference in my digestion and liver function.
There are many websites that will explain how to make herbal tinctures, salves, teas etc. and how to grow your own herb garden or recognize wild plants. A great yahoo group is called herbal remedies. Look in the files, you will find many formula recipes and directions.
You might think about looking into the herbalist courses on the market. I found that after studying biology and chemistry I understood the mechanisms behind the herbs much better. If you can get to Susun Weed in New York, she teaches many workshops. She also has a forum and writes many articles on women's health.

I will grow my own vegetables (completely organic), I will avoid most toxins and never ever buy packaged food. I am looking at water purifiers at the moment. I already only buy organic meat (from a organic farm). What else can we do. I will try my hardest to stick to a wholefood diet but I guess I will always want a small bar of chocolate now and again. I will buy supplements that will be available, albeit in very small amounts. I will eat nuts to get my magnesium (bought from the health food shop).
Other than this, I will continue to curse the bastards who brought this upon us!

Hi Thessa:
Thanks for the goldmine of information. If possible, and if available, I will buy Ephedra seeds BEFORE they are banned.

Oh, now you'd be able to handle animal foods! LOL
Would you reveal your formula?

If you grow your own food, use EM (effective microorganisms) for much higher yield and increased health of your crops. You can join EM-1 yahoo group to learn about using EM.

I hate to keep beating a dead horse, but how many of you who have posted on this thread have called each of your 2 senators and asked them to VOTE NO on S722???
(Maz lives in Australia, I think, and I know Walt has called his senators.)

Hi Mary,
I live in the UK. I have written to my MP, I have written to Tony Blair, I have written to the Health Minister and yesterday I emailed the Daily Mail who like to take up stories against this government. However, they weren't interested this time.

Good idea.
I bought some this year, but wasted them in a first year attempt at an herb garden. They didn't come up :(
Take it from me and start them in pots first!
But then, like everybody else, you probably knew that.
I'm not sure they can ban the sale of seeds by the way. I think only the supplement form can be banned.
Let's hope.

I don't recall ever not being able to handle (digestively) animal foods. Well, ok, except for dairy, which I am still "allergic" to, but working on. Then again, when I was eating meat I wasn't near as sensitive as I am now about which foods affect me how.
Here's the formula:
1 part fresh dandelion root tincture
1 part milk thistle tincture
1 part angelica (Angelica Archangelica) tincture
1 part berberis tincture
1 part pau d'arco tincture
1/2 part cayenne tincture
I take about 80 drops in 2 drinks of water with a pineapple extract tablet about 5 minutes before my meals. I had pretty much narrowed down from systemic candida to just bacterial overgrowth in the small intestine. So I figured the start of my problems was lack of hcl and pancreatic enzymes. I put in the dandelion and cayenne to increase hcl, the pau d'arco to kill bacteria (berberis also), the milk thistle to regenerate the liver, angelica as a general digestive, and the berberis to help improve fat metabolism (dandelion also).

Hi Thessa:
Where, specifically, did you buy those ephedra seeds? Can I get them online? I'm still checking out the links you provided, but if you can give me a quick referral, I'd like that.

I bought them online at Horizon Herbs. I'm not real keen on the way they charge for shipping. It's a pet peeve of mine when a company charges a fixed shipping fee instead of the actual cost to ship plus a few bucks handling, especially being in Europe the shipping is always higher. Anyway, they have a good selection.
