Health Canada poised to make natural products into drugs ...

To members and friends of Health
Action Network Society;

Many of you will remember coming to the public forums which HANS
sponsored in 1997 and 1998. During that time we provided you with a
number of opinions about WHY Health Canada wants to re-classify
natural products, one of them being for the convenience of large
pharmaceutical companies to enter and exploit the territory of novel
foods, or functional foods (ie., bread fortified with Vitamin C, so
they can say that it will prevent colds).

So, what's happening now? The office of Natural Health Products has
worked feverishly with all levels of industry and government to
craft legislation which would pave the way for Big Pharma as Dr
Michele Brill-Edwards puts it.

Health Canada is inviting you, the public, our members, to say what
you want to say about them re-classifying natural products as
drugs. Health Canada says it's to our benefit. Do you agree or
disagree?

Trueman Tuck of Freinds of Freedom says this is our last chance, and
it's important for everyone to register and have their say.
According to Trueman, "the reason its important to register for the
legislative renewal process is that enough of us register, we can
help ensure that the new legislation defines foods and drugs as per
our federal private member"s bill C-420. This bill will make natural
health products foods rather than drugs." The link listed below is
