My first coffee enema -- I have questions

Posted by KMD on September 08, 2000 at 09:38:50:

Hi,

I finally purchased an enema bag yesterday (enemas are new to me). I followed the instructions for the coffee enema. Here was my experience and I was hoping somebody could give suggestions to solve the difficulties I had:

1) It took a very loooooonnng time to complete the process of boiling, straining, and cooling the coffee. About 2 1/2 hours, and that was with me straining it through coffee filters in a seive that I held above a pouring mixing bowl. Drip... drip... drip... Seemed like it took all evening. Wouldn't it be easier to use a coffee maker?

2) When I got ready to actually start the enema, I was unsure about how fast to allow the coffee to "go in". There is a clamp on the tubing that allows control of this. At first, I loosened it a little to start the flow but nothing happened. Then, I opened it up the whole way, still nothing. There did not appear to be any kinks or anything, and I thought "what the heck?!". So I checked the connection and kind of squeezed along the tubing and shook it a bit, finally I could tell it started flowing. The next thing I know (about 30 seconds later), I'm thinking "Whoa!" because I am feeling overwhelmed and practically sick by what was going on. I squeezed the clamp so as to let my body adjust to the fluids so far. Then I released it again and closed my eyes trying to breathe slowly and relax. Then I realized that the bag was empty already and I was shocked. I would say that the entire amount (1 1/2 liters) of coffee emptied from the bag into me in less than 60 seconds. That can't be good! That must be too fast, right?

3)So, I proceeded to try to relax (laying on my side). Within 2 minutes, the sensation of needing to "go" was very strong. Within 30 seconds more, my body was actually shaking horribly trying to hold it back and I couldn't hold it! So I went. It was only 3 minutes from the time the bag was empty to the time I sat on the toilet. That's not long enough.

OK, all you coffee enema people, HELP! Is there a faster way to prepare the coffee? Did the fluid go in too fast? Did I use too much at once? (I have seen directions stating to use anywhere from 2 cups to 2 liters). Did I hang the bag too high? Why couldn't I hold it? I don't think I got the benefits, and after all that prep work I'm disappointed.

i had some trouble too. i have done this before with something else (though this brings me to anothre thought...what about using other things this way for their benefit ? ozone to kill things ? l-glutamine or cla-mg-butyrate for intestinal wall health ? etc ?)...

anyway i had trouble too.

for the coffee, though, i just brought four cups of water to a boil (in a glass pan) and added the grounds. let it boil for two minutes (think that was what the directions were). then poured the coffee through a strainer.

cooled it in the freezer in a cup.

then tried to use two cups at a time for the enema. i was not able to use that much however.

i assume i am just not yet accustomed to this.

I think I want to try doing this. The instructions as per Dr. Page in Healthy Healing call for using 1 cup of regular strong brewed coffee to 1 qt of water. She recommends that as you lie on your left side and the solution is getting in to you that you should gently massaage the abdomen or to flex and contract the stomach muscles. After lying on the side for 5 minutes and doing this massage she recommends moving to a knee chest position with the body weight on one hand and the knees, using the other hand to massage the lower left side of the abdomen for a few minutes. She claims massage releases encrusted fecal matter. Then its sugested that you roll on your back for another 5 minutes (hard to imagine holding it that long) and massage up the descending colon, over the transverse to the right side and then down the ascending colon. Then you're supposed to turn over on your right side and only after that go and expel the fluid.

Her prep instructions sound easier but does anyone besides me think it'd be hard to hold it that long?

I have read that catnip enemas (make a tea of it, basically same instructions) are good for children and for stomach and digestive conditions. Pau d'arco is referred to in use for balancing acidity/alkalinity - for chronic yeast and fungas infections.

If anyone else has experience with the coffee enemas please share them with us. Reports that this helps clear brain fog appeal to me in a big way.

There is a great site: www.iwindow.com/mito.htm that I followed exactly that works well for me for coffee enemas. There is a recipe there, how to cook it, how to do it, etc.

For me, it generally takes 13 or 15 minutes from the start of the fluid entering my body, to it "leaving" my body. The height that you have the enema bag from your body makes a huge difference. The higher the back, the quicker it flows in. You need to try different heights that match with your comfortability.

Following this recipe, it only takes about 25 minutes total to cook it. The straining goes pretty fast if you use a regular coffee strainer--I use the kind that fits over a cup, like what you use to brew one cup of coffee--a cone looking thing with a cloth, reusable filter inside that I just wash out each time. You can cook up the coffee ahead of time (enough for 4 enemas) and keep it in the fridge, then just use one cup of that mixture at a time, combined with 3 cups of water. The site I mentioned gives exact, directions.

Good luck. For me, it is WELL worth the effort, and not all that uncomfortable, once you figure out the right height to hang the bag. Massaging your tummy really helps with the uncomfortable feeling......
